Need help
Having owned a couple of Texas homes, I can well imagine your problem.  Large house on a concrete slab, no basement, wooden frame with brick or stone facade, plywood floor on the second floor with a large upstairs second family room.  Am I close? ...
I love sad music
If losing a piece of ear qualifies as a “sad song”,  give Colorado Cool Aid by Johnny Paycheck a listen.   A sad song with an inspirational ending!

Joni Mitchell can really add to a good downer.  Blue is titled Blue for all the right reasons.  One of my all time favorites.
What's your favorite speaker finish?
Blonde Burmese teakAbout 26 years ago I was motoring on the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar conducting geologic field work.  We passed a small boat anchored with a man on board furiously pumping what looked to be a bicycle tire pump.  We were told a di...

Peter Wolf - give him another listen
I remember seeing Wolf and the Geils band at the 1975 World Series of Rock concert at Cleveland Municipal Stadium.  They opened for the Stones.  South side shuffle, I musta got lost.  Great stuff.  Tower of Power before Geils.  Billy Preston sitti...
Do you, or did you, have Audiophile buddies that you shared music, gear, times with?
When I listen alone, I prefer to be by myself.
Mono vinyl, how do you know if really single channel mono or if stereo recorded to mono

I knew I had “One Size Fits All” but I doubt I ever played it.  Pulled it out because of this thread.  It is wonderfully recorded and the harmonies are fabulous.  I appreciate Agon now more for the music suggestions and reminders.  Thanks

Yes, you can get deep in the weeds trying to match cartridges and stylus to different vintages and labels of pressings in both mono and stereo.  The question is how many monos do you have or want to acquire.  I started testing with inexpensive mon...
JBL L65 vs Forte III vs Cornwall IV
I still love my JBL L65s.  They are not the jubals.  They have little chew marks on them from my first daughter when she was teething.  Just the right height for her to stand against. New surrounds and capacitors and they sing.   However they are ...

That is news to me.  If the record album says mono, I play it on my mono rig.  It sounds like you want to use your stereo cartridge on the “two channel mono” you describe.  Many albums were recorded in mono and stereo, and you can find both.  This...
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?
