Disappointing Evening
You are not the first to experience the lack on interest in your tube set, nor the last. Only like minded audiophiles will be able to appreciate. At 54 years in this hobby there is very little that floats my boat so to speak. So don't be to offend...
Review: Emotiva USP-1 Preamplifier
Many thanks for the kind words. Never considered myself a professional reviewer or audiophile for that matter. I considered this product needed some candid commentary. Sure it will be maligned by the elitist, whose basic input if it doesn't requir...
Review: Muse Model-100 Amplifier
Thanks for your input and the kind words. Now I have to check out the Muse 160, based upon your reply and the overwhelming endorsement from my friend that has one, that he continually raves over. However with that being said the Muse 100 is one of...
Rogue Metis vs. Emotiva USP-1
In my testing have only used the full range outputs. I won't be testing the other outputs, as this test is for stereo operation only sans any subwoofer attachment. Have never found a subwoofer I could live with.
Rogue Metis vs. Emotiva USP-1
Currently evaluating a Emotiva USP 1 preamp and have to say way impressed not only with its sonics, but build quality as well. However this thread comparing it to elevated tube gear is not a fair evaluation. Nor is it fair for me to compare the US...
Review: Threshold FET Two sII Preamplifier
A 3.9 that is Sweeeeeeeeet. Nelson always favored the SA3 and the SA3.9 regarding them as his favorite designs and rightly so, they are spectacular. Before delving into possible resistor problems in phono stage I would try some other phono intercon...
The Hub: A new year brings changes....
Trust me - not picking on the Denver area folks. My son still lives there. I lived there for 4 years and got to know a lot of great people there in Audio. It is a hot bed of audio activity then went under appreciated till the RMAF shows. It justs i...
The Hub: A new year brings changes....
Oh - I remember that chain well in Denver, another case of lost identity, similiar to that of Sound Advice here in Florida, when Tweeter bought them out. Instead of continuing with the same business model that made them a success, Tweeter managed ...
Review: NAD 3130 Amplifier
All righty so what else do you want to know. Perhaps its ability to resolve music with a great deal of liquidity and transparency as well as detail while not being over analytical. It errs nicely on the side of being a warm not sterile sounding am...
Good Bye George Shearing
He will be sorely missed. A true gentleman, with a wicked sense of humour. I'm sure somewhere in the heavens he is entertaining the masses and having fun doing what he always did best.
PMA 980 with ADD
Have the same problem here with same model. Needs new selector switch which is no longer available from Denon. An aftermarket non remote switch can be installed for about $175.00. I found by just leaving it on 24/7 solved the problem for the most ...
Dual 1009 : Is it a good TT to buy ?
I would say contact http://www.fixmydual.com/ and see what they say. That's their business.Last I heard there were no longer new parts available as Dual discontinued parts for this model as well as other 10 series tables.I had this table in the ea...
Room size for Alon V MK2
In case anyone is interested in West Palm Beach, FL there is a pair of the Alon MK V for $600.00 in Black Ash finish. Damn near a giveaway price for those.
Room size for Alon V MK2
Yep its room size agree with Timtim on that one. Had those once and had to return to the Model 1. Was to good a deal to pass up at the time, but just didn't work out. Still using the Mark 1 Alons.
Solid State to Tubes and Back Again
I made the switch only once in 1977 when ss finally camos of age. For the 20 prior years it was tubes warts and all and I has just about had it and ready to ditch the hobby alltogehther when the Mark Levinson and Threshold gear came out. In a mont...
