Inner sleeves versus none?
Agreed, get inner sleeves. I have also bought used minty looking vinyl, only to hear a cacophony of disharmonious screeches and wails! Or minty albums from the '60's, where the CERAMIC cartridges tracking at 5-10 grams stripped out all the "highs"...
Buying Someone's Records: An Ethics Question
First, electricians provide a service which costs them many years of education and training. Do you want to play with 240v, try to meet building codes, while not electrocuting yourself, or burning down your house?Second, be careful of any records ...

4yanx, be thankful that your pressing only contained paper shreds; some actually had small pieces of wire from the wire burnishing wheel used to remove the label. Also, aren't the UK colored pressings rather pricey? I know that some of the Island ...

Doug, funny, but I never had a problem with my RCA "Dynagroove" vinyl, even though it is incredibly lightweight and flimsy!Stew, the older Japanese pressing of the YES "FRAGILE" vinyl is quite good as well!
House AC Line Variance
Porziob, I disagree! The standard is 120v +/-5% [114v to 126v]. Just checked mine at 7:30 PM [TV & A/C running] and it's 122v...but we have a recently upgraded power grid in my area.

I need help on directionality of speaker cables
Geez, Bob P., you should be a lawyer :-) You caught me on a technicality, but you are right. Perhaps I should have said the arrows point to the next level up in the audio chain [source to speakers].And might I urge you to also become a member? Lik...
Retail Music Stores Gone
For any who remembers, the Towers in Boston at Mass. Ave. & Newbury St. was a really cool 3 floor store with gazillions of items having anything to do with music...more selections than I've ever seen elsewhere. And, GASP, I was in a Best Buys t...
I need help on directionality of speaker cables
I always place arrows or use another identifying mark to show the direction in which the signal flows [source to preamp to amp to speakers].In case you ever disconnect your cables, you won't have to worry about another "burn-in". And if you use XL...

Insanely Expensive....and Worth Every Penny
Mrtennis you now stateit is my opinion that purchases are made based upon emotion, not on the basis of a rational process of value for the dollar...Bravo! A concise and easy to understand premise! A line taken from a Boomtown Rats song states, "Th...
Insanely Expensive....and Worth Every Penny
Mrtennis, if I'm ever taken hostage by a terrorist, I hope that you are with me, so that you can do the talking! Either you'll so confuse and obfuscate the terrorist that he will let us go...or kill us on the spot :-)
Question concerning db sensitivity
The only thing that I've heard about high sensitivity speakers [95+ dB] is that one has to be more careful with the choice of upstream gear, especially the amplifier.
Sales: truth in weight?
Viridian, your butcher should have been more careful with the cleaver :-)
Sales: truth in weight?
I will include packing expense [either double boxing, or a special kind of expandable foam] in my shipping charges, although usually it costs me slightly MORE than what I actually charge. And don't forget that there is usually an extra charge for ...
