My Impossible hum issue.
The hum problem is an issue that occurs in most professional music areas. The solution is to install ISO Max transformers. It will cost you about $200 but will solve any of your hum problems.
Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
One of the things that everyone seems to forget is that each company that does re-mastering is setting up the cutting latheĀ (slightly) differently and you will have to adjust your VTAs to eliminate the brightness and bass emphasis. One you do this...
Love / Hate relationship with vinyl?
I think that you have a ground problem. Try getting device like the juice bar and plugging in all of your devices in to a single phono path (phono preamplifier, turntable, speed controller, and preamplifier ect.) so that all power cords share the ...

MIT Matrix HD60's or Magnum MA Speaker Cables?
I just purchased the Matrix HD60s and they are an incredible match with my Krell Evolution 302 amplifier. They are not bright at all and are extremely musical. They sound fantastic right out of the box. Right now I have about 125 hours of break-in...
Critique my system...
Treat the room first....this will give you the biggest bang for the buck. Work on removing the standing waves from the room corners and first reflection points. Only after this is done will you know how your system actually sounds.
Magnepan with upgraded fuses
Make sure you replace the jumpers with Cardas jumpers. This makes more of an improvment than the fuses do. But do both the fuses and the jumpers.

Best way to warm up the sound
This may sound odd but move your speakers 2 to 4 inches closer together. This should increase the mid bass and warm up your sound.
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
1. I have owned 4 different pieces of Mcintosh equipment (MR67, MR80, C28,7083). The problem with Mcintosh is their inconsistant sonic performance from unit to unit. Mcintosh makes some electronics that sound superb (MC275/MA275/MC2301) and some p...

Magnepan Crossover Mod Approach?
Jaymark, what mods have you already done to the speakers? What is it that you don't like about the sound of the speakers? Right now I am thinking about room acoustics first before I tear into the the speakers. What is your room set up like?
System Hum Question
Hi Bongeiste,I just had this problem. One of your source devices (CD player, turntable, or tuner) has a 60 cycle hum on its audio outputs. Disconnect one source component at a time until the hum disappears. Then take the source component in for re...
