Amateur inherited an audio system...
I think that it is unfortunate that your girlfriend is suggesting that that you liquidate something that was left to you by someone who you meant something to. If this gear is in reasonable shape (it is very good stuff!!!) it will last you for man...
Blue Circle DAC BC501
The Blue Circle DAC is an excellent performer. There was indeed a discussion of it on the Blue Circle Forum. It can take a relatively inexpensive transport or CD player and turn it into an allstar. I had tremendous results driving a Musical Fideli...
What new gear will you be buying this year?
None. Except maybe a record cleaning machine, but that's it! Well, unless I decide to get a new phono cartridge... or a phono interconnect... or both.Sigh.
best time/worst time to sell equipment
Come on, the best time to sell gear is when you need new gear!
pet's & xmas
I have an 8 month old beagle pup named Logan, who is already spoiled beyond belief. He will undoubtedly receive a pile of toys of the squeaky, furry, and edible variety. Equally undoubtedly, he will ignore them all in favour of sneaker insoles, an...
Lions and Tigers and Bears..Oh MY............or...
I can only comment on the SME 20/2A, which I purchased last year. I love it. It took me an evening to set up, and is provided with well written instructions, which were relatively simple to follow. It is a simple design, and pretty much fuss-free....
Cartridge for SME IV.V
Thanks for the input guys - lots of useful info here. I suspect that the interconnect will be the first thing to go. I would have addressed that sooner, but the only interconnect that I have seen that I would have wanted appeared - and vanished :(...
A blood oath among Audiogonistas
I agree, but then I think we should also not respond to those who post in all lower case letters as well. I think that these posters are sneaky and have something to hide.
Comparison of $11,000 - $15,000 reference speakers
A big room - you might also want to consider one of the larger models from PMC. They would definitely fill your space.
Comparison of $11,000 - $15,000 reference speakers
If I were you, I would be expanding your short list to include Focus Audio, Wilson, Dynaudio, and Verity Audio products as well. Also, a word or two about the size of your room, and your listening preferences would help to take the guesswork out o...
Cart for Basis Debut/Graham?
The Shelter 501 would be a good way to go if you want bass, though I prefer the overall sound of the Dynavector 17DmkII. Both of those cartridges will be substantially better than the Shure. You might also consider whatever Benz Micro has to offer...
Less expensive alternative to MH-750
Find an old pair of MH-750 used here - I got a pair for under $200 and they are fantastic with my CLS IIzs, and there was a pair here recently that was reasonably priced. You cannot find cable that works better with ML panels.
Audiophile book of "Common Sense"
You can't use the terms "audiophile" and "common sense" in the same sentence - it constitutes an oxymoron of epic proportions :)
The Best Live album
Tower Of Power "Live And In Living Color" - absolutely rocks on vinyl, though I have never heard it on CD.
Why are audiophiles perceived as being wackos?
A lot of people simply don't have the tolerance or patience to understand music. Most people look at a Porsche and get it - it looks cool and goes fast, easy concepts to grasp, and therefore popular. Music itself takes time to grasp, let alone the...
