Benefits of a Shallower Rack
I've used curtains to drape the top and sides of my rack to excellent effect.  You can also get stand-alone absorbers to put next to them.  Experiment with a blanket at first, if you like the results consider spending a little money.  I've also d...
Getting good sound quality below 200Hz
This underpins the upper driver beautifully but by contrast if I play it on its own its not at all impressive,   What exactly does this mean?  You play the 15" without the mid/highs? Get measurements.  What might be happening is that you have...
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
No one is ever going to agree with what I am doing on this system, because there appears to be a propogandic rule that one cannot purchase cables worth more than the system they are attached to   I disagree completely with the way this is fram...
Replaced all my Living Room Outlets
Something I recently discovered. I needed a 90 degree angle plug for a power conditioner to make it easier to hide the cables and got a hospital grade plug. Wow. In combination with the contractor grade plugs it’s a vice clamp.  I had to fix the ...
Price Isn't Always Indicitive of Quality or Performance
Well, I can't say the OP's post matched my expectations based on the title.  It presupposes a lot about the value of cables vs. the gear and the room. Personally what I've observed is that when cables make a difference we are already far up the c...
Luxman vs Hegal
Honestly never heard or seen Hegel or Accuphase in real life but for looks and nostalgia factor I really would love to see and hear a new Yamaha integrated.
Luxman vs Hegal
luxman's line spans decent but imo less-than-great sounding lower end class ab models Have to disagree here. I love the AB integrateds and I used to think they performed significantly better than their price.  That was before all the price hike...
Why did my amp just crash and burn ?
chaseton: In an ideal situation with no music playing there’s no voltage on the outputs of an amp. When you short an amp in this situation you should generate no current. If your fuse blew it _might_ be an indicator that there’s some DC offset. ...
Why did my amp just crash and burn ?
One other thing to ask, were you playing any music when you moved the cable? If not, a short would only blow a fuse if you have DC on the amp outputs.  This might be worth checking before reconnecting your speakers.
Why did my amp just crash and burn ?
Hey, you may have a short.  Disconnect the cables from both ends and measure the resistance, should be infinite. Check for even the thinnest of stray copper threads.
What covid research can teach us about audio measurements.
You may not think that measurements matter but they sure as hell do when anything is constructed.   I certainly have never said measurements don't matter, only that in a scientifically driven world we'd be using new and different sets of measu...
What covid research can teach us about audio measurements.
Anyway the analogy doesn’t make sense to me. They weren’t measuring the MRI machine. Think of medicine, and that doctors and researchers repeatedly break into two camps.  One camp always looks for more information and more ways of looking at di...
Amp's that are better sounding than a nad 3020
I'm not sure which 3020 we are talking about anymore, but the small D3020 or 3020D (forgot which) is pretty nice sounding, small and lots of connections.
Pass XA 25 and Goldenear Triton Reference
I think you want warm to syrupy.  Modern AR integrated or Parasound  IMHO with any GE speakers, Ayre also a good possible match.
low bass response
Oh, as an experiment, throw a blanket over the armoire.  You'll be amazed at the changes. :)  You can do the same by throwing some cushions into the corners or hanging up blankets.  Anything you can do to demonstrate the changes would help you mov...
