Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog?
For me it all depends on the quality of the original recording, and the quality of the remasterings into the different formats.  The skill of the dudes/dudettes in the control room conquers all.  I have some superb sounding compact discs.  More of...
Speaker upgrade for classical music
I'll get heat for this, I know, but this fellow fiddler gets a kick out of the tone gotten from his Nola Boxers.  They certainly don't deliver true under-the-ear intensity, but that's actually a blessing.  It's more of a three-to ten feet away sen...
What did you make for Christmas?
Great project!  As for me, I was happily on my hands & knees on the lawn, pulling weeds.
What album have you bought in the most different formats.
Ziggy Stardust. US LP.  British LP.  SACD.  None of them blow me away sonically.
Frail and Bedazzled
I've gotten to the point where I just don't care if I'm listening to vinyl or digital.  All I care about is putting on something I feel like listening to.  Maybe I want to listen to some Tchaikovsky (I have a true weakness for the guy).  Maybe I'l...
thumb drive for source?
I'll put a thumb drive into my laptop and route the laptop to my Mytek Brooklyn.  Sound is just fine, if definitely of mid-fi mp3 ilk.  Wait a second!  Is it because most of them are mp3's in the first place?????
I admire Miles Davis, i admire Stravinsky; but i loved Chet Baker and Scriabin...You?
Frogman. I love your post. I got to say, though, that I've always found that my like vs. love selections do seem to change over time.  In other words, sometimes you can be too picky.

I only stick with the musicians/vocalists/composers I love. It isn't enough just to admire them.  Music has to do more than just cater to my frontal lobes.  For me, art trumps technique every time.  I got to say, too, that cool & controlled as...
Why do some think "music" (not gear, trading, etc.) is the ultimate end?
mahgister -- Love your post.  A true attempt to argue that meaning can indeed exist within a piece of music.
What if any, is the difference between a band or a group?
A combo is a small jazz group.

yogi boy -- I think you got it spot on.
Power Conditioners
I had a PS Audio line conditioner and, yes, stuff sounded fine when I had my components plugged into it. One day about two or three years in, though, the thing heated up and started to smell bad.  I hurriedly replaced it with a generic power strip...
music: religious experience or background noise?
I exult.  Given half a chance I let music carry me away.  I'll happily pick it apart and then let it enchant/assault me as a whole once again.  I'll focus the parts of the listening experience that are most enjoyable in each live performance or re...

Just vocalists...it's a group.  If there are musical instruments involved, it's either a band or a group.
Original Nola Boxer Replacement, Maybe?
I love my Boxers.  They've essentially taken me out of the market. I also have to say that though in theory I wouldn't be against trying something new, I now live far enough away from any high-end retail stereo outlet to make even a cursory auditi...
