Why People Like Tekton
I’ve owned the Double Impacts (both regular and SE versions) along with KEF Reference 5, KEF 107, Wilson Watt Puppy 5.1, and Duntech Crown Prince. I love the Tektons comparatively. The KEF Reference 5 was more detailed but came across as brighter ...

Somebody needs to make a playlist with all these and share on Tidal or something.
Share MYSTICAL, HAUNTING songs
I don't think anyone has a list of well written haunting/sad songs as Elton John, albeit they're not his most popular songs - but they're some of his favorites. He admits he prefers sad music and he certainly included alot on his albums that many ...
Big Below 15k used that can play loud as heck
It would be a shame to use the Dunlavy for shake purpose only.  I used to be on board with the big Klipsches but as I grew older I grew wiser and no longer think of them as "hard rocking" or loud speakers. They simply get too harsh at super high v...
KEF 107 without Kube
I took posession of the speakers and wow these are realllllyyyy good even without the KUBE.  I did some more digging and there are some people who claim they can't really tell a difference with/wihtout the KUBE.  I do understand why some people us...
Great song to test bass
For deep bass in normal music and good songs:Celine Dion "I Don't Know"Flight of the Cosmic HippoCeltic Women "May it Be" and "Fields of Gold"For slamming turn it up bass:Moana soundtrack "We Know the Way"  seriously crank this up
KEF 107 without Kube
@roxy54 to maybe change the way I said what I said.. I thought the bass was phenomenal until I found out he boosted the knob way up.. It left me wondering how much "help" the speaker will need in the low end.  From the best I could tell in his bad...
Horn speakers are really bright?
So much depends on how loud you drive them.  Some people's "loud" is NOT loud to me. My loud is VERY loud and that's where the horns get shouty and ear piercing.  At the same volume, non-horn speakers like my Tektons are much more pleasant to rock...
Horn speakers are really bright?
Here's what I've come to learn about Klipsches, DON'T PLAY LOUD ROCK MUSIC THROUGH THEM. That's where they get brashy, honky, and headachy.  Those horns are nice with certain genres at reasonable volumes, but crank them up with many types or rock/...
KEF 107 without Kube
@erik_squires Thanks for that info, I might look into that.  I don't have as much time and know how (or willingness to experiment) as many on here so I appreciate your help.
KEF 107 without Kube
@mofojo no because we were walking back to the car when I thought to ask. I've never auditioned speakers before where they EQ'd them so I didn't think to ask.  Also, I'm getting such a good deal that they're easily worth the money even if I'm not ...
KEF 107 without Kube
@roxy54 Let me help you understand a little better. Most "audiophiles" prefer the straightest less altered signal path as possible. They want to believe their speakers are capable on their own merits to produce an accurate full range of sound with...
KEF 107 without Kube
@roxy54 Can you provide a universally accepted definition of an audiophile? You're probably right to assume I'm not that. I am, however, annoyed by your response and kindly ask for you to troll your superiority complex to other boards.@yakbob I te...
KEF 107 without Kube
So I just auditioned them at this dudes house and they were stupid amazing.  The bass was very deep and full for a speaker this size, or almost any size for that matter..  But THEN I found out later that he had turned the bass knob up to +6 to get...
Cost to keep equipment running / on
thecarpathian, I figured someone already had a pretty good idea, and that was answered.  Saved $20 too :)
