OT Congratulations NY Yankees
Al I was 9 years old and lived in Pittsburgh at the time. We listened in the classroom on transistor radios when they first came out. Too bad the owners don't want to win anymore. Dan

Ditto on what has been said already. I got mine for $80 from a thrift store. They didn't know what they had. I did have to replace the fuses. As far as size of room goes, mine is 10x10 which is very small. I had very boomy bass so I ended up getti...
Can I mismatch subs?
Personally, I think as long as both are good subs, this will help even out the bass in your room. The minus is you have 2 subs to move around and try to integrate with your main speakers. 2 crossovers, 2 volumes, and 2 placements. They probably bo...

Has Anyone Criticized The Choice Of Your Cables?
Yes, but they are usually criticizing the fact that I spent more than $5 on wire.
Broken Interconnects-fix, trash or ???
I fixed a Audioquest quartz by unscrewing the end and just reconnecting a loose wire. I didn't resolder or anything. It has worked fine ever since about 6 years ago.
grant fidelity tube buffer experience
I don't know anything about that particular buffer but I would also try it between the pre and the amp so that all sources get the benefit of tubes and then go from there.
Predicting the AGon economy?
I agree with Kira. I just bought a B&K Ref 20, listed at $2500 for $350. I needed a remote preamp with dacs, composite video switching, and headphone jack for my office where sound is more important than picture. I just have as old 27" Panny w...
Two-part headphone question
I think comfort is the most important aspect for 'phones. If you can't wear them, you are wasting your money. I can't handle the "bowl" style phones. The newer AKG's and higher end grados have them. I like the older grados with radio shack replace...
Do cold temperatures damage audio equipment?
Somebody once told me that you need to let the equipment warm up to at least 40 degrees before you turn it on. I don't know why that number was picked but that is what I usually told customers. Dan
What do you consider when setting crossover freqs?
One problem is that the bass measurement changes when you change seats. If you are closer to a wall or corner, you will measure, hear, and feel more bass. You get it all figured out, but then move to the other end of the couch, and you might feel ...
Speaker Placement for small room???
Also, generally speaking, the closer to the wall, the more bass, and the further out the less bass. And you generally get better soundstage further out.
