Playing CDs sounds better than Qobuz — dammit
@minorl Ahh…..gotcha. I wouldn’t think Aurender makes CD transport. Bits or digital audio signals are all different, they are not the same. Say if you have two different sources or using two different streamers or music servers going into the sa...

@minorl Did you use FLAC to rip all your CD collections? Depending on the music server you have the CD ripped files stored in, a high quality server and CD ripper should yield identical performance if not better than playing the actual physical ...

@soix  Is the iFi Zen Stream going to the same DAC as when you were using your iPad to stream Qobuz to? Did you use the same USB cable with the iFi and the iPad to the same DAC? I have no doubt the iFi Zen Steeam with their iPower X power supply ...

@soix    Have you upgraded your streamer yet? If you did, which one did you end up going with? You should highly consider Naim or Linn streamers. Aurender, Lumin, T&A, EMM Labs, Playback Design also make great sounding streamers / DAC.
Shunyata Delta or Alpha V2 NR vs. AQ Hurricane HC
@audphile1  You will always have to run a dedicated line for your hi-fi audio setup back having said that with a dedicated line won’t change the tonality of your system, he’ll only improve the overall performance of your system. It will be quiete...
AudioQuest vs Cardas XLR
There are always counterfeit cables especially with Audioquest and all these counterfeit cables are of course made in China. I’m sure they are also counterfeit Cardas cables that are made out of China.
AudioQuest vs Cardas XLR
@spearl8 I have spoken with an Audioquest customer support over the phone the other day and he told me that the lower end models are indeed made in China but their higher and series or models are manufactured in house in California. For example,...
Shunyata Delta or Alpha V2 NR vs. AQ Hurricane HC
@audphile1 it’s all about system synergy. The synergy between your cables and your electronics, such as your amps, preamp, DAC, and speakers. The newer Shunyata Alpha V2 NR might not be suitable for your system.   And I would let the cables bur...
Cary CD 306 SACD player vs newer Marantz SA 10 CD/SACD player
@jafant  I’m not so sure if the Marantz SA 10 would be a nice upgrade sonically from my current older Cary CD 306 SACD. The SA 10 might be an upgrade sonically from the earlier and even older models of Cary CD 306 that can only play Redbook CD bu...
AudioQuest vs Cardas XLR
@spearl8  not all Audioquest cables are made in China. Their entry level and lower end models are indeed made in China but their middle to higher and models are made in USA.

@vonhelmholtz  I have two REL subwoofers, a 300 watt/channel integrated, streamer, DAC and phono preamp plugged into the Everest power conditioner.   in regard to your above statement : I wouldn’t plug your subs on your power conditioner. I wou...
Cary CD 306 SACD player vs newer Marantz SA 10 CD/SACD player
Thank you all for responding. I’m currently using Cary power amp with Classe preamp that will soon to be replaced with the Cary SLP-05 vacuum tube preamp. So I’m not sure if the Marantz will have a good synergy with my other Cary components. But I...
Cary CD 306 SACD player vs newer Marantz SA 10 CD/SACD player
True. Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts, advises and suggestions.   @elliottbnewcombjr The picture of the laser or disc transport assembly that you posted here was that of the older CD 306 that does not play SACD, it plays only Redb...
Cary Audio CD 306 SACD player (non Pro version)
As of now Cary still has the laser assembly in stock for the CD 306 SACD player both non pro and pro versions but they don't have any more laser assembly stock left for the older CD 306, the one that can only play Redbook CD but not SACD.
Cary Audio CD 306 SACD player (non Pro version)
@jafant  I sent it in to Cary and they replaced the laser assembly. It is a fine player.
