If I upsample digital flac 16/44 to hires 24/192 is the sound equal to native 24/192
When it comes to upsampling/downsampling/filtering/DSPing...  One mans sugar may be another mans sand...
New at Qobuz - no HiRes sound
Unless there has been some update to your Mark Levinson 30.5 DAC you don’t want to be sending it anything other than 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz or 96kHz data...My guess is that Tidal had never sent above 96kHz if that...BTW, as I understand it...
Importance of Ripping CD to My Music Server
Just for the heck of it, you might try an external DAC and see if it makes a difference...I always wonder about internally upscaling/upsampling from PCM to DSD...  I'm not a fan...When you RIP to FLAC aren’t you in PCM? And then the HAP Z1ES upsca...
Chord Qutest with the Lumin U1 Mini VS Lumin T2
I think that the Qutest and U1 mini is a great combination if you like the clean, crisp and precise sound of the Qutest as I do...The T2 may sound a touch warmer...The Qutest is a custom FPGA implementing the Watts Transient Aligned architecture v...
MacBook Pro streamer
Does it need a special Ayon CD-35 USB driver... I can’t get the manual from the Ayon web site without a password... There is a USB driver there and I did not try to access it...What player software are you using to access the Ayon with? Something ...
How many power supply devices do I need?
I find it interesting that you would not spend a few hundred $$$ on an Endpoint/Streamer to isolate your DAC from the Core/Nucleus but you are willing to spend several hundred $$$, or more, for one or more Linear Power Supplies... Good luck...
Audio Converter Software
Many to those Apps are just a fancy user interface on top of SoX and FLAC... Maybe its time you go down the rabbit hole and learn Sox and FLAC them selves...  And SoX and FLAC are free...
Best streamer given my constraints
That is a pretty nice system you have there... I would think it deserves something better than a blue sound 2i...Have a look at the Lumin product line streamers and streamer/DAC combos...Something like a U1 mini with an external DAC like a Chord o...
Streamers, servers, players - woefully overpriced??
in_shore, I was being facetious... Anyone, can build a server or streamer on their kitchen table in a few hours... Anything from $99.00 on up... Its just a bunch of parts tossed into a box isn’t it... ;^)
Why not combine streamer, roon core, endpoint, server and cd ripper together??
All these threads seems like audiophile intellectual masturbation...
Streamers, servers, players - woefully overpriced??
Look inside a Lumin streamer or streamer/DAC... Nice Broadcast quality technology... Lets see you build something of this quality... Design, simulation, layout, circuit boards, parts selection, build, software, test and box... Yea, didn’t think so...
DAC question - please help...
You don’t say what kind of DAC you have or Stereo... And if it has a Headphone Output, my guess is there is a Preamp and Amp Stage designed into the DAC to drive Headphones... Plugging the Headphone Output into your Stereo Input would place and ad...
Why not combine streamer, roon core, endpoint, server and cd ripper together??
Maxwell, Tesla and Faraday suggest that all things transmit and receive...  Therefore stuffing too many electronic gizmos into a single box becomes problematic...  Noise ingress and egress...  And all noise is additive...
Lifetime Roon is a go - alternative to Roon Nucleus
@emergingsoulIt is nice to see that you are starting to think for yourself...Look at Intel, Asus and others for a basic NUC style box...  Most major computer manufactures make these NUC style PC system...  It is pretty easy to compare the features...
Is the Roon Nuceus device a good streamer?
A Roon Nucleus is an overpriced PC...  Have a look at Intel's NUCs...  Also be aware that even Roon suggests to use an Endpoint along with a Nucleus for the best Signal Quality...  In other words, don't connect a DAC directly to a PC/Nucleus...
