No HDMI out from 4K 85" Sony
Sony support confirms both ends need to be eARC.  An option is optical, but that may not provide better sound than the surprisingly good sound with the Sony speakers, although I think it could provide surround,  I'll give it a try.   As an aside...
How do you high pass your main speakers?
I tried a Bryston active high-pass between my Ayre preamp and amp and didn’t like the resulting sound. When I asked Ayre about it, Charles Hansen castigated me for placing an active component between his preamp and amp -- a zero feedback issue. He...
Giving in to my weaknesses
I've been using KEF Wireless II augmented by a pair of KEF KC62 subs with an Oppo 205 for discs.  It's a very satisfying setup that minimizes clutter.  Used prices seem within you budget.
Is it worth the trouble and expense?
I'd trade surround for the elegant simplicity of a KEF LS60 augmented by a pair of KC62 subs.  Roon and a first rate Blue-ray player combined with eARC from your TV could provide high quality music and HT while passing WAF with flying colors.  KC6...
Need help! First step into high end audio
I recently bought a 75" smart Sony TV. eARC from the TV goes to a pair of KEF LS50 Wireless II speakers via HDMI, providing uncompressed audio. Roon goes to the speakers via Ethernet, providing up to 192/24 audio. An Oppo 205 goes to the speakers ...
Have ~12K to spend on a new setup. Help!
I'd go in a different direction, i.e., KEF LS60 ($7K) or Dutch & Dutch 8C ($12K), both Roon ready active speakers.  Don't know about the D&D 8C, but the KEF accepts eARC for uncompressed TV audio.  Both are set up and controlled by apps th...
How to build a super simple streaming system
OP might consider Roon ready KEF LS0 Wireless II or LS60.  Only external requirement is a modem/router.  Connection can be Ethernet or WiFi.  Sound quality can be excellent, and the KEF app makes set up easy and is a delight to use.  eARC provides...
Looking for a good small subwoofer...
I use a pair of KEF KC62 subs to augment KEF LS50 Wireless II speakers with excellent result.  The KEF app makes set up easy.
Amp for Magnepan "Mini-Maggies"
I have a pair of A23s among the components I should sell.  I thought they sounded a bit anemic compared to the A21s.  I eventually moved to JC-1s for mains and used the A23s for surround.  If you can manage it, I'd look for a used A21, a really ni...
KEF Reference 1 v 107/2
stevet59, I augment the KEF Reference 1s below 80 Hz by a pair of Velodyne HGS-15s with SMS-1 acoustic room correction, I’m unaware of the subs except when they do something I know the KEFs can’t do, e.g. vibration from a low pipe organ pedal note...
KEF Reference 1 v 107/2
The point of my previous post was I never compared the Reference 1s with the 107/2s.  Anybody made that comparison?  Anybody with experience in inserting a KEF KUBE between an Ayre preamp and amp?
Focal Kanta 2 or KEF Reference Meta 1 plus KC62 sub?
The KEF KC62 enables high-pass so the mains are freed from LF duty.
Maggie LRS so ridiculously good
As an alternative to LS50 Metas I tried LRS speakers with an Ayre VX-5 amp, augmented with a pair of KEF KC62 subs. I was impressed. As an alternate for KEF Reference 1s I’ll be trying them with an Ayre VX-5 Twenty and Parasound JC 1 monoblocks au...
LS50 + Sub Or Floorstander?
In one of my setups I've gone through KEF LS50s, LS50 Metas, and then to reduce clutter LS50 Wireless IIs, all with a pair of KEF KC62 subs.  In each case, large orchestrations were presented with a satisfying sense of scale made possible by the s...
Balanced switch for preamp output
Thanks, dpop, the Nobsound seems to exactly what I want at a reasonable price and the convenience of Amazon.  I've ordered one.
