AA Dti PRO 32 for perpetual P1A???
I don't have any experience with the P1-a either, but I owned the whole AA setup-DDE3.0, DTI-Pro, Monolithic supply, Channel Island mods etc. I now own the P-3a(DanWright mod) with Monolithic supply and I am totally blown away. It is in a whole di...
Disappointed in SACD player
I agree with J thunders about Sony's handling of the software issue and the general greed of the music industry in general, although I think there is plenty of blame to go around for high CD prices. It is appaling to pay $16-$19 for a CD of music ...
Bit perfect copies
I too have had problems with cheap CDR's. The blue ones that I bought in bulk would skip terribly especially on my car and portable machines. I switched to SONY (silver in slim cases) and have had much better luck ( still only around $.75 each)
Disappointed in SACD player
I also suggest that you contact J&R Music World. I just bought a SCD-333ES from them and they are blowing them out for $600 which is half price. If you are interested in 2 channel as I am then this is by far your best bet. Their new machines a...
How many you wax spinners know ET arms?
I used an ET2 for over 10 years and was very happy with the performance. I agree that it takes a good deal of patience and skill to set it up properly but it is quite stable. The most critical adjustment is the front to back level of the table. If...
Sony SCD1 compatible with S.F. P-3 ??
Classicjazz: I would be interested in knowing how the p-3 sounds compared to the internal dac. I have a 777ES and have been thinking about trying the p-1/p-3 combination. Thanks
Vandersteen 3A sig VS B W Nautilus 804
I have been using the N 804's for over a year and have been very happy with them. Yes, they can be a bit bright on top and system matching is important. Definitly stay away from silver cables and bright sounding digital front ends. A great tube pr...
Wire Up-grade for Rega RB300
Express Machining has a wiring upgrade as well as the counterweight upgrade. Talk to Music Direct as they carry their products. I did both upgrades and they results were very impressive. The wiring upgrade uses Cardas copper wire from cartridge pi...
Sony SCD777ES skipping problem
This is strange. I have never had a tracking problem until today when my 777ES did the same thing on 2 different discs. I am difinitely keeping and eye on it and will send it in for service if the problem persists while it is still under warranty.
New belt for Michell Gyro SE?
I checked the Artech website today and there are MkII versions of the Gyro SE and Orbe as well as the QC supply. They did not give any info as to the improvements but the price of the Gyro SE MkII has increased by $200. I would be interested to kn...
Thiel 2.3--bright or harsh ?
I had a simular experience with the 2.3. I would not call them bright per say. It was more like the upper mids were very forward and in your face. I made a felt ring and put it around the mid/tweeter which helped smooth out the sound somewhat. Has...
Sonic Frontiers, what is going on??
I suspect that it is a case of the equiptment not being a good match for some peoples systems. Their new line of tube amps and preamps has a somewhat lean sound, not lush or romantic. They may be very neutral and acurate but may not be musicly ple...
AP Copper Oval ICs
Meagasam: I guess this is a system matching thing. My Nautilus speakers have plenty of high end sparkle without using a bright cable. I tried combining the A+ and Harmonic Tech silver cables and wasn't satisfied in my system. I'm sure you might co...
SACD's: Recomendations, ones to avoid
Talked to Acoustic Sounds yesterday. They said that the MoFi Duke was recorded with the Meitner electronics which is why it sounds so great. Also, it is apearantly taking a lot of time to get masters transfered to DSD. Sony will loan their recorde...
AP Copper Oval ICs
I have been using the Copper Oval IC's for several weeks now and almost totally agree with Megasam. After listening to these I substituted my Harmonic Tech Pro Silway II's and couldn't stand to sit down in front of the speakers and listen. By comp...
