Understanding cartridges ?
I found it on vinyl asylum. The compliance is listed there as 25x10-6 (high). I thought that it would be a high compliant cartridge, but it is nice to see the numbers.
Understanding cartridges ?
Thanks for the link, Bob. I'm glad I learned something about this before I purchase a second cartridge for my mmf-7. I have been able to find that the Project 9 arm is 11 grams and thus a medium mass arm. I have not been able to find the complianc...
What cartridge for MMF-7?
Tom,Would you recommend a low output MC cartridge for the Project 9 arm and is there a tube phono stage that does a really good job with both MM and MC? I am scouting an upgrade path and it would be nice to get the phono stage now and latter upgra...
Understanding cartridges ?
So how do you determine if an arm is low/med/high mass?
Anybody using Audio Advisor's Record Doctor II?
Find an old vacuum cleaner and build your own for less than $50 if your handy. I still use the VPI brushes and cleaners, those do the real work anyway.
What cartridge for MMF-7?
You must have been reading my mind, Stuart. I have been contemplating this same question and would be interested to see what suggestions get posted here. I currently have a mmf-7 with a shure v15vxmr that the previous owner had chosen. I believe i...
Planning to go analog
Sorry if I misread you, smokester, but I get the impression that this will be your first turntable. (?) Assuming that this is the case I would ask Twl and other owners of higher end tt's if it is advisable for a "first-timer" to get a table such a...
Two Stereo Amps, Bi-amp or Monoblock?
I went through this bridged/biamping decision within the last few months. I had started by bridging my two Rotel 980BX's into a pair of Totem Rokk's. Obviously I didn't need the power for these speakers, but I wanted to see what difference shorten...
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase
Flemke,I, too, have a woodworking hobby and I constantly go back and forth with that and audio stuff. As far as woodworking being cheaper, have you bought any wood lately? It's not cheap anymore and I buy rough stock.I don't deceive my wife about ...
anyone familiar with Rotel phono stage?
Thanks Blw,I don't expect much from this phono stage, just enough to get started. As long as I have owned it I have never had a turntable connected to it. I suppose that I should start with either a MM or high output MC and get a good arm for thes...
ceiling model material for Cara?
Thanks for the tips. I am only using the room ambiance tool for now to try to get a handle on what treatments would be most effective. I reran the sim using Rives suggestion about treating the drop ceiling as a hovering abject and the results wher...
Time to replace speakers, suggestions wanted
sunnyjim,www.audioc.com There is a price sheet as well. Looks like the Talisman is about $8K.
Time to replace speakers, suggestions wanted
That's the thought I had. The "head light" theory, if you will. When one goes replace both.
Time to replace speakers, suggestions wanted
Recent snows have kept me from making progress on the speaker upgrade search.Totem says they will sell me replacement drivers for $90 each. Maybe it's worth replacing the mid-range in both speakers at the same time to keep them balanced. What do y...
Time to replace speakers, suggestions wanted
Absolutely. I don't buy anything I haven't heard. I am trying to find places within my home area, southern N.H., to audition the speakers I am interested in. Some makes are easier to find than others. I have heard Thiel, Revel, Aerial, and the Aer...
