To Stream or Not to Stream
@mijostyn  "Streaming is for background music only. In no way shape or form is it ready for serious listening". If you're going to make a general statement like this, you need to let us know the streaming equipment you use. Using Qobuz, I find s...
To Stream or Not to Stream
You may find that many of the 7K CDs you have are offered in hi-rez on Qobuz. Once you listed to a hi-rez version of a CD you own, you'll likely not listen to it again.
Gryphon Mephisto
@jakesnak - You're correct about John at Audio Salon. I'm fortunate to have known John for several years and live less than a mile from Audio Salon.I recently purchased a Pandora for my Gryphon Antileon EVO Stereo amp. I hope you enjoy it as much ...
Favorite Guitar Solo
@ danvignau842 Thanks for sharing the Roy Buchannon video. Truly amazing. Too bad the camera didn't show more of Roy's incredible fret work.
Favorite Guitar Solo
I'm surprised no one mentioned  Paul Kossoff.  He was the lead guitarist in the band Free that played the infamous solo in 'All Right Now'.  True, it's not a tricky solo, but it's probably one of the 10 best remembered guitar solos due to the cou...
Favorite Guitar Solo
I think Jeff Beck has the best chops of any living guitarist.  However it's the way he treats melodic songs such 'A Day in the Life' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHHY3eRUMsM) or 'Nessun Dorma' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdUdtpjv0ZI) that...
Make way for the future....
@Mapman - I've owned 2 all-in-one systems for a second home.  A NAD M10 that I recently replaced with a Boulder 866.   The NAD M10 is truly a lifestyle product as it can play just about any digital source known to man including streaming music via...
Samsung flat screen TV’s
Check out an LG OLED.  I've had the 65" version for 2 years and nothing I've seen below $8k touches it.  BestBuy has the 65" LG OLED for $2,000 and the If you have a big room LG also has the 77" version for $3,100.
Boulder 866 experience? Users?
My Boulder 866 with the digital option was just delivered over the weekend.  My plan is to use it with Maggie 20.7s and a REL S/812 sub using Qobuz and a Synology NAS hard drive for locally ripped tracks.  I was a bit concerned if the 866 had ampl...
Two subwoofers for two channel music listening
It's interesting that the SVS 1000 has both line level and speaker level inputs.  I have the SVS SB 3000 and it only has line level.  But it does have a terrific Bluetooth app to manage volume, xover point, slope remotely. No more continuous getti...
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change?
@romney80  I agree with you about upgrading to a Lumin X1. The upgrade to an X1 is wise because many people have reported that the fiber optic port of the Lumin X1 sounds better than the RJ45 Ethernet port, which puts the X1 in a world-class leagu...
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change?
You may want to consider adding instead of replacing.   and With the Be tweeter and with Focal's famous 6.5" mids, I'm sure the vocals are terrific as you mention. However, the Kanta 2 speakers only go down to 35Hz. Not surprising for a pair of 6....
If you stream music from the internet, I can't recommend this more highly
In addition to my dCS DAC/Streamer I have a NAS for ripped music. Like the dCS Rossini DAC, the NAS is connected to a UniFi switch via a 6' Melco Ethernet cable. My question is would I need an additional fiber optic setup between the NAS and UniFi...
If you stream music from the internet, I can't recommend this more highly
It's interesting that Lumin may be onto something with their X1 DAC/Streamer as it has a native fiber connection in addition to the copper Ethernet (RJ45) connection. I've heard and read from X1 owners that the fiber optic port is noticeably bette...

@hiphiphan  Thanks for Andrew's email.
