Best Drum Solos
Take a look for Tommy Igoe. He is one of the best drummers and drum instructors out today. I have heard him with the Birdland Big Band. There are a few of their recordings. He has moved to LA and he has some new recordings.
Merlin TSM-M (MXE) Owners manual
Do you know if the wooden toe in stick is the same as for the VSM? If so, I can trace an image for you
Best Jazz pianist
I loved Billy Taylor. He was a great pianist and he contributed greatly to jazz in NYC. He was a gentleman and an educator. I spent my musical formative years going to The Knickerbocker in the village to hear him. It was his home base and he was t...
In Memoriam: Bobby Palkovich of Merlin Music
I am remarkably saddened by this. I have a pair of VSMs that I love and had wanted to upgrade. I spoke with Bobby several times and his honesty and conviction clearly came through. He made a product of which he was proud and did not come out with ...
Upgrade from Proac Response 1SC?
I had the 1SC. I then moved to the D15.I now have Merlin VSM which I love. You can get a used pair of the TSM (bookshelf version)at a reasonable price. While I have not heard the TSM, I understand they have a strong family resemblance.
Logitech Squeezebox Duet and streaming

Need a New CD Player
I could never quite put my hand (ear) on what the problem was. I just didn't want to listen to music, and when I did, I didn't want to keep hearing more.I tried it by itself and with my rDAC. The sound was best with the rDAC and optical output, bu...
Need a New CD Player
I just returned a Marantz 5005. It did not make it to my ears even with an external DAC. I got a Rega Apollo-R and I am very happy.YMMV
Help in choosing
This made a surprising improvement.I have a Rega Apollo-R coming tomorrow, and I will need to decide which goes back.Have others also had an improvement going from coax to optical in/out?
Help in choosing
It looks like it will be a new old stock Creek Destiny CDP.Still full factory warranty (called distributor).Maybe not the absolute best, but pretty good, at $900 with 2 years of warranty, I don't think I can do better.
Help in choosing
I had been happy with a TEAC VDRS transport and the rDAC. The Teac has been to the shop twice in the last two years, and I won't send it back again, so it does not seem to be the tubes or the rDAC. The transport on the Marantz does not seem to be ...
To fix or not to fix
Thanks.Craig
To fix or not to fix
Latest thought. As I already have a Logitech Squeezebox Duet, I think I will just get an external drive, rip my discs to it and then use that for a server going into my DAC. Not an eloquent solution, but an inexpensive way to try out the server rou...
To fix or not to fix
Mapman,Considering the asking price of the used Vault, it seems like another cost effective solution. I don't have all that large a disc on my PC, and the idea of an all in one to rip and then play in one box seems pretty good. I am going to take ...
To fix or not to fix
Mapman, great idea.Any thoughts about the Bluesound Vault? There is one listed now in my price range.Presently using Arcam rDac, wondering about sound quality?
