Transformer based passives vs passive stepladder
Atmasphere - so are you saying that EVS and Endler, by virtue of the fact they are passive attenuators at the input of the amplifier, are immune from artifact associated with other passives as a result of eliminating the IC? Bear in mind I love my...
Next Turntable
I have a SOTA Nova Series V and am very happy with it. If I had to do it over again I would look very hard at Galibier Design. I was very impressed with the table when I heard it. It was set up with a Schroeder tonearm and ZYX cartridge.
TT set up question
I have used the Wally Skater in the past to set my anti-skate on my Kuzma Stogi tonearm. I found it interesting that the factory recommended setting based on my cartridge VTF and the Wally results were different, by quite a bit. I confirmed the Wa...
Transformer based passives vs passive stepladder
I don't know if what I am about to say will answer your question or help you, but I am in the same boat you are right now. I am looking at and trying out a lot of passive devices. I have looked at the following so far:LuminousGoldpointWelborne Lab...
Alpha-core advise?
They went for that deal when I purchased from them. I tried the MI-2 and Python bi-wire and kept the MI-2. Very nice folks to deal with and prompt refund on the returned cables.
Which Phono Pre to upgrade to?
Decware is an excellent suggestion. I had one in here and compared it to the Whest and Hagerman Trumpet. It held it's own even though I selected the Hagerman in the end. Steve Decker is great to work with too.I might also suggest you check out the...
Alpha-core advise?
When I purchase my MI-2s they came with the Zoebel network already integrated into the design. No extra work on my part. It doesn't hurt to have it on their even if you don't need it from what I was told by Alpha Core.
Alpha-core advise?
My MI-2 Veracity cables broke in just nicely on their own over a weekend. No cable cooking required. I Have had them over a year now and love them. As to your other dilemma I plead ignorance but am curious as to the outcome.
Should I purchase an expensive phono preamp
I had a Whest in my system, and heard it in a couple of others. While I agree it is a great phonostage and worked nicely in my system, it is very system dependent, not to mention susceptible to EMI and RF. The prices on the Whest units are droppin...
Tube Preamplifier Time
The Modwright 9.0SE should be right up your alley. I owned the Cary SLP-98 and while I agree that it is warm, it is an incredible preamp. I now own a Joule Electra LA-100 MkIII and while it is a tad on the warm side, it is an extremely musical pre...
need help with rca cables
I'm not sure this will help you but I've been pretty impressed with RSAD Poeima!!! cables of late. Also, I am going to be trying the new Oritek cables that seem to have developed a following.
Analog Lovers and Filterless DACs
My Audio Mirror DAC combined with my Alesis Masterlink 9600 is a combination that has served me well. Both have been modified by TRL so they are no longer stock. The stock Audio Mirror was great, but now is even better. Considering the cost of the...
tube amps with El 34s your favorites ??
While I had it in my system the Cary V12i was a nice sounding EL-34 based tube amp. You could also experiment with other output tubes as well.
Entry level phono stage
I was going to recommend the Bellari. For the money it seems like a nice phono stage. I haven't heard it myself, but reviews have been positive. Maybe you can get it on a 30 day trial and check it out.
ground loop HUM please help
Granite Audio makes a device called the Ground Zero that should solve the problem. It's a bit pricey but comes with a 30 day trial.
