Primare I35 Prisma
zeteticDid anything ever happen with your Primare audition? I'm still very intrigued by their new lineup but will have to wait for the used market to snag an I25. Just wondering what your impressions were. That audition really stands out in my mind.
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
twoleftearsApparently they were driven by Triangle Art class A monos. I'm getting the sense that the harshness we both heard was mostly endemic to the speakers themselves. Now that you said that, I would really like to hear the Merrill amps with a...
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
That's great that others heard good things in that room. When I walked in they had some string chamber music playing that sounded pretty nice, but a bit on the etched end of the spectrum but nothing offensive. Someone requested Steely Dan - I thin...
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
Maybe others who heard it will chime in. I had high hopes as I've been wanting to hear Merrill for awhile now and the speakers seemed intriguing at least. Unfortunately the synergy was not there at all with this system to my ears. I would like to ...
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
I heard the Muraudio room in Florida and it sounded incredibly shrill and thin on anything besides chamber music. On the other hand, one of the most musical rooms I heard at the show was the unassuming MOFI system with Falcon LS3/5's and a Dr. Fei...
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
George I deleted it to be nice and to not get involved in the pissing contest anymore, but here we are.  But I still would put forth you have absolutely 0 chance of hearing what you claim is a serious downfall of current class D.
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
So, George, notice that I didn't call your posts tedious, just the constant back and forth. So thank you so much for the personal attack. Much appreciated big guy.
Which Class D Amplifier? PS Audio, Ghent, Nord, Merrill or other???
I have read through a fair amount of this thread but the back and forth between George and others became pretty tedious. I think the only solution to the "current class D is dandy" and the "current class D is too flawed to compete with A or A/B" w...
Bryston 4B Cubed vs Hegel H360 vs Benchmark AHB2
sorry for my grumpy post. I'm having ...issues with my system right now so...actually the issue is my system is non-existent right now and I'm trying to rebuild almost from scratch and things are not going as I had hope so far. You are right thoug...
Bryston 4B Cubed vs Hegel H360 vs Benchmark AHB2
I would hope that the Benchmark is at another level or maybe 3 or 4 above the Nova 150 or 300. These amps to me define mediocre. I have auditioned them against less expensive A/B amps as well as amps around their price and they sound very veiled a...
Primare I35 Prisma
Did you end up getting the Primare? I just heard the little brother the i25 at the Florida Audio Expo driving a pair of Falcon LS3/5 speakers and it was sublime. One of the most musical and enjoyable rooms at the show IMO. I now want one.
What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker?
I actually disagree with the notion that a properly integrated sub can't make the tonal balance of a system better and in some cases much better. I have the same issue in my system of "bright" treble and when I introduced a REL sub and worked with...
Speakers with the most detailed midrange? (non-ESL/planar)
Quad Z3 in the lower part of your price range sound truly special to me in the mids and highs - maybe as good as anything under 10k that I've heard and more listenable than most. I think that's the special part to me - the amount of detail retriev...
Best bookshelf speakers
It seems you are gravitating to the smaller companies and there is definitely merit to that. I used to own KEF reference from the 90's for many years, but since then had moved on and was not particularly a fan of their more recent affordable lines...
