Analysis Omega Ribbon Planars
I have the Analysis Epsilons and like them very much: Room Size: 20 by 14 feet with speakers along long wall, setup and components can be viewed by my moniker.I also posted listening impressions in the Apogee Speakers group:http://www.audioworld.c...
I am considering several used sme 20 turntables.
At a substantial savings, I would probably go with the second generation power supply. The second generation power supply is quite competent. The third generation looks cooler, though.
Has anyone ever cried listening to your system
They did when it was solid state.
Ebony Wine Stopper Blanks
The "wine cork" tweak works pretty well. A neighbor put some of the remains from his daughter's wedding reception in our can, including a bunch of wine corks. I retrieved them and have been using them as "roller footings" under some tubed equipmen...
SME 30 / 12 pre-release details.
12 percent increased chassis stiffness and a 3 pound heavier platter would probably make the stretch 30 audibly better in the bass foundation of the music over the standard 30. I have never been impressed by the 12 inch arm concept. The 12 inch kl...
Most agreed upon best speaker?
Isn't this an oxymoron?

Cheap SS phonostage
Vintage Yamaha c70 preamp. Fantastic solid state phono unit.
The best phono stage out there?
Johnjc,I am sure you heard what you heard when you heard it, it just seems an unfair generalization about the component given my own experience in owning and using the unit for over a year. Synergies can make or break particular components, even t...
SET owners, need help with Rectifier tube
I have found Mullard GZ30's on ebay for as little as $22 per tube, they sound great, closer to the 5y3 than the 5u4 in voltage drop. However, they don't have the high voltage/current limits of the 5U4 or the 5AR4, you would have to be careful abou...
The best phono stage out there?
"For me it seemed to happen with music that had real drive like the Electric pieces from Casino by Al DiMeola remember being told that it must be production on record from dealer""Casino" is one of my faves, played it many times on the Allnic 1500...
The best phono stage out there?
Dunno, my Allnic phonos shred, rip, grind, sting and bump with the best I have heard. I have been listening to ZZ Top, Cream, Blind Faith and Santana, never sounded better . Of course, it is always advisable to listen to a particular phono staqe i...
Sound Quality of Phono Stage on the Yamaha RX-Z11
The one on the RX Z9 is actually all right. I tried it with some input coils once and it sounded decent.
