Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved
Like Lazarus this thread now rises...Sunandmusic, no matter how much you spent on a VHS recorder, a blue ray player would be much better. The ability to transfer & decode data is best left to the computer. This with all things considered (see t...
Resonators
Handyman, save your money or get real room correction. There are many on offer these days and you could EQ to taste if that's what you are after. You would be mad or stupid to drop 5k or more on theses resonators. Buy better kit instead.
Resonators
There is very little value in them. Yes they do something subtle but you could get the same type of EQ effect many other ways.
Is there really a need for panel speakers in 2012
Taters, an interesting question. The short answer is yes IMHO. The long answer is that some box speakers can have planar type aspects sonically these days. But just as drivers and materials have got better for cones and domes,so have planars. My re...

Vicdamone,Thank you. I was struggling to contact you! I have had various versions of switching amps both in the studio and my system.I understand some of the castigation they have reveived. But compared to 90% of amplification they are a cut above...
Petition: Stop the loudness wars
Good luck with that but its a bit like saying lets stop war. The reasons for doing the kind of limiting and compression that way is because on normal small average systems, computers etc it sounds great. Unfortunately that is the market.

All this is showing us is that many audiophiles are confused in a world with too much choice and little support for the products. This is where people feel they need a champion to find the gear of their dreams. So in a world where you could have th...

I notice the OP has left the building. I suspect deep down he knows the amp is not as great as it should be. Those kind of amps don't sing. They dissect and maybe that review touched a nerve?I'm glad Mr. Fremer piped up. Good for you Mr. fremer!
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil
I'm with volleyguy1. Oeaohoo, are you sure the forwardness is not just a characteristic of the Almarro? I have tried the Almarro as standard (new and non modded) and in my system it demonstrated a wiry and white sound. I wonder if the more natural...
any Marillion Fans?
The fish era for me. I haven't listened to them for a while though. "Fugazi" I remember being a good album at the time. Loved "sugar mice in the rain" too from "clutching at straws".

Vicdamone, thank you. I am just debating using the Hypex nCore for my near field studio monitors. Could I PM you on your thoughts? I don't want to derail this thread.Part of me cannot be bothered to run in and get used to yet another set of active ...

"I have to extract the music..."- Mr. Fenchfries.I don't want to put words in your mouth, but this above phrase you used is interesting. You say this about recordings that are not very good quality, but in my experience this is where I would start...

Mr Fenchfries,I think once you have experienced a lot of equipment (like some reviewers) and lived with it, your taste starts to get extreme and changes until it finally settles.I remember the Halcro at the time on my Magnepans plus active subs. T...
AC Outlets
Hi Peter, another relatively cheap, but said to be good sounding outlet is the maestro. It is used in an extremely expensive range of mains conditioner called Tripoint. I think it is very important to try the outlets that are said to sound great. T...
AC Outlets
Peter,I applaud you. This is the stuff. These guys that talk and have giant opinions but have never tried it get on my nerves. You have a massive task to prepare though. You will need to 'burn in' each outlet for at least a few hundred hours before...
