Power cable
@respected_ent Mind sharing which power cord you used?  I have a CODEX too and would be willing to experiment...  Thanks!
What would be an upgrade over the NAD M51 Direct Digital D/A Converter?
Try to demo the Ayre CODEX at ~$1750, and sometimes they pop up on here around $1500.  I have not A/B'd your DAC with the CODEX, but if you are looking for an engaging sound, the CODEX is a great place to start demoing.
Best car audio, Burmester? highly disapointed
I have the standard Bose system in my '15 Audi A8 (no road noise, FYI :) ), and it is really quite good.  By far the best Bose system I've heard.  I had a chance to hear the optional B&O system ($6000?) with the motorized tweeters.  It sounded...

Ayre V-5xe Review
Hi Exron.   You're certainly entitled to your opinions. I will just note that the gain on the Ayre amp is certainly lower than the NAD S200 it replaced.   If you're ever in northern NJ, I would welcome the chance to change your mind with a listeni...
Ayre V-5xe Review
Yup, definitely in the market for that pre.  For now, I run the CODEX (which has a preamp function) straight into the amp, and use a passive volume control with the P-5xe.  It's kind of a pain to switch cables when I want to play vinyl, but this i...

Audionoobie, you don't happen to be the gentleman who was picking up his 1s at Johnny's place when I was dropping off my check for an Ayre amp?  This was about a month ago.  I'm the guy with the beard and Buddy Holly glasses.  :)

May I suggest experimenting with additional toe in?  Johnny Rutan has these set up in his shop spread far apart with a fair amount of toe in.  Running with tube amps, they sound excellent.
Time for Two Ways !
Vandersteen 1ci.  First order crossover at 2.8kHz.  8" woofer, 1" tweeter.  On paper, hard to believe it would work well.  But it sounds great.

Ayre V-5xe Review
Thanks all; I agree that the combo of Vandersteen and Ayre is really wonderful.  And Johnny R makes it a very enjoyable, low stress experience to demo and purchase.  I am very fortunate to live only 3 miles from his shop.  :)
Speaker phase observation and question?
Some speakers, e.g., Vandersteen, are purposely designed to have all drivers in the same, positive phase.  As Mr. Squires implies, Vandersteen does not use a flat baffle.
