SignalScope FFT Analyzer for Setting Azimuth
From my perspective I don't see why you would need to go to the frequency domain for azimuth adjustment.  The cross talk wave forms tend to be the same frequency as the main waveform and you are interested in minimizing amplitude anyway.  I have f...
MOBILE FIDELITY ONE STEP VINYL
I have all of them, except Abraxas. In terms of sound quality, the only 2 that left me wanting were Marvin Gaye and Simon and Garfunkel. I think the other albums sound fantastic. The new vinyl formulation, Super Vinyl, the record is semi transpare...
How do tell when my stylus is too much worn?
@aspens  Thank you for sharing your paper. It was a very interesting read with attention to detail and acknowledgements. My initial reaction is ”that reminds me why I used to buy MM". Installing a new stylus is a piece of cake, of course if they a...
Name Your Top 5 Most Musical Dynamic Sounding Tonearms of All time?
I am pleasantly surprised at the versitility of the Spiral Groove SG2 turntable with the Spiral Groove Centroid arm. I've used a Lyra Delos andStanton 881S with D81 Stereohedron stylus and Long Hair Brush installed. I was pleasantly surprised that...
Should I keep the Turntable or sell it?
I suggest regardless of your turntable decision, ensuring your tonearm choice has an easy azimuth adjustment. I find that the soundstage is enhanced with azimuth adjustment which results in equal, or equal as possible and lowest crosstalk in each ...
Possible turntable upgrade....
In 2013 the Spiral Groove SG2 turntable with Spiral Groove Centroid Arm really attracted my interest, and kept my interest for a number of years while I was looking to acquire one and finally did. I posted some attributes of the table and arm and ...
Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step with the new Super Vinyl is dead quiet. There are only 2 out right now that have the SuperVinyl. Marvin Gaye, What's Going on, and Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood. The dynamic range on Vaughan's Stratocaster on T...
Analogue Productions Test LP Tools?
For Azimuth optimization I really like the The Clearaudio Azimuth Optimizer Test Record. Since it has two entire sides that play the left channel then the right channel, over and over again. I use an oscilloscope,  but a multimeter will also work....
Choosing the right cartridge....
Speaking of MM, I drank the Kool Aid from Chakster and Raul and purchased a Stanton 881S with D81 Stereohedron cartridge on Ebay. There was a bidding war and I was lucky to get it for $250 from the re-tipper guy on Ebay (even though he is a Stanto...
Ugh....dropped the stylus on the platter
Has anyone had a record slip through your fingers while flipping it over and have it slide like a frisbee passing the back of the turntable and sliding all the way down the back of the cabinet?
Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner
120khz now that is interesting. Nice looking unit and looks well thought out with filtering and drying.  Was there ever a consensus on higher frequency 120khz vs lower frequency 40khz? I recall advocates on both sides of the argument.I am still cl...
How often do you have to service your Studer or Otari deck ? Home not pro environment.
I only use new tapes. These are the 3 tapes I use. RMGI/PYRAL LPR-35 (1mil tape) RMGI/PYRAL SM-911 ATR MDS-35 (1 mil tape) I have one sample of the MDS-35,  but I really like it, frequencies record very well on that tape from my Crown CX-822.For ...
How often do you have to service your Studer or Otari deck ? Home not pro environment.
Should have said:"Other than cleaning the heads and setting tape bias for the different tapes"
How often do you have to service your Studer or Otari deck ? Home not pro environment.
I have a Crown CX-822 reel to reel. I bought my unit from Chuck Ziska, Crown engineer that now refurbishes them. I haven't had to service it yet. BTW, I am not sure there is anything to service other than cleaning the heads. To answer your questio...
Outer ring - who uses and what are your findings
I hadn't seen that, using the spindle for positioning the outer ring. Very innovative.
