A bad situation
Hi all I'm the guy that bought the pre-amp. Through this entire unfortunate incident Jeff has been the best!! Prompt communications throughout the whole thing, timely resolve of the situation. If you have the chance to buy anything from Jeff, feel...
Are Carver amps worth a damn?
regarding the silver 7's. No I have never heard them, and if they are great then one could use the analogy that "even a blind chicken gets a kernel of corn sometimes" overall I think most would agree that Bob Carver cuts a lot of corners [typically...
Are Carver amps worth a damn?
NO!!!!!! If Bob Carver touched it,it's junk.
Best Retailer Youve Done Business With?
I agree with Hungryear about Audio Perfection. The overall tone there is "everything you own is crap, everything they have is to die for". Several friends of mine [some with stellar rigs] have gotten the same treatment. Not friendly or helpful at all.
Best female vocals on CD
I agree with the person who spoke of Rachelle Ferrell's 1st instrument cd. Great voice, good songs, well recorded. Pat Barber is good when she doesn't sound like she's on the verge of falling asleep,[which is most of the time].
DO AUDIOPHILES EVER LISTEN TO MUSIC?
I listen to the music. Unfortunatly I buy music that only will sound good on my system.I am a musician [rock] but cant listen to rock on my system since rock recording engineers insist on compressing the shit out of every track, and then once agai...
Buyer Beware!
after about 15 or 20 buy\sell deals i've done on audiogon I've only gotten stiffed once. Most of the people i've dealt with have been really good people here on audiogon. After talking to a few people that do the e-commerce thing it seems that most...
Tubes? Transistors? Which are better?
tubes vs solid state I think it's a horse apiece. Both do certain things very well.Tubes give you a bit of a midrange bloom that can be pleasing, usually at the expense of controlling the bass. Solid state can be dead accurate and give you massive b...
Burn-in time Vs. Getting used to a sound
redkiwi:I currently have an atmosphere novacron amp, audible illusions 3a pre, micromega cd,maggie 3.2 speaks. I have had many other systems and other than tubes and speaks they ALL sounded exactly the same when I sold them as when I bought 'em.sorry
My wife is so uncool!
my wife hears with her eyes.Hated my Maggies, ditto the apogees, REALLY hated the voice of the theatres. My all horn system is permanantly sentenced to the basement. If it isn't a cute little box with shitty veneer on it it's days are numbered.does...
meridian power cord upgrade
No I have not.I have a friend that ownes an audio salon I will "borrow" both and give it a try for a week and let you know if I hear an improvement.
Burn-in time Vs. Getting used to a sound
could what you percieve as burn-in be purely psycological? Possibly buyers remorse for buying a piece of gear that probably doesnt integrate well with the rest of your system [hey, we've all been there] not to be a smartass, bit I still say,as many...
meridian power cord upgrade
If you hear a difference with an aftermarket high-buck power cord on your gear than god bless you. I have tried a few different power cords on mine and the only difference I heard was the sound of dollar bills flying out of my pocket
Burn-in time Vs. Getting used to a sound
subaruguru.read the latest audio critic[10 biggest lies in audio] I believe this should support my view
Burn-in time Vs. Getting used to a sound
burn in for the most part is complete bullshit with a few exceptions[tubes and speakers]. solid state electronics require no burn-in as caps form and bias adjusts in a few seconds after turn on. if it sounds bad when you first listen to it, its go...
