Harbeth HL5 vs M30
Pubul57Just for point of reference I heard the Merlins with Dehavilland gear...they are just not my thing. Jim, I have talked to 3 dealers, basically getting different answers from each. If I had to tally up votes from dealers/ agoner's/reviewers,...
Harbeth HL5 vs M30
Pubul57,I don't care for Merlin or anything on the bright side. MHO!!!Mike
Harbeth HL5 vs M30
My musical tastes lean toward "little girl w/guitar" music, some Dire Straits, but mostly female vocal. Once in awhile a Stevie Ray or even ac/dc finds it way into the cdp, but that's only for moments, not hrs.
Harbeth HL5 vs M30
Thankyou for the responses. Maybe I should have worded the question different. I would like to get the M30's because of their size and the soft dome tweeter. I should ask if that's a mistake vs the hl5. Some say that the hl5 is the sweet spot in t...
Harbeth M30 vs. Super HL5
Kevin set me up with a Cary sli-80 and Coincident PEII's and its a great system. I have heard them with other speakers like Acoustic Zen, also very good. I think speakers need to be a least 6ohm and 89, higher sensivity.
Coincident Super Eclipse iii internal wiring
Jetrexpro, It depends on your definition of better! There will be a lot more resolution, but it comes with a lot more treble energy, that I did not care for. You got more bandwidth which was nice and more clarity.Cheers,Mike
Harbeth vs Proac
I appreciate the responses. As usual everyone has a opinion and I need to listen for myself. I will have to travel to hear proacs. Some of the commentary about 7's being better than the much more expensive 30's is troubling. But it's not the first...
Harbeth vs Proac
I have owned the newest 7's, I liked them, but they lacked the resolution of my Coincident. The midrange, just like everyone else says, is still the best I have heard. I have been thinking about the 30's, because of the better tweeter, but they ma...
"upgrade" from Cary SLI 80 F1 edition
Vdg, Just find a local tech to switch the caps. It's not a big deal. Just order the caps from Chris and take the unit to a local tech that can solder and you will be good to go!It's really a very simple mod, but with big time results.Mike
"upgrade" from Cary SLI 80 F1 edition
Vdg,Before you sell it, you might try this, by the way I am on my 3rd SLI-80. Get rid of the Jensen oil caps and put in V-caps. Call Chris Vanhaus, he is great to work withIt's a cheap, but substantial upgrade. You will get more bandwidth, both en...
Cary 306/200 - What next?
You should try Esoteric! I had a 306sacd and the Esoteric pounded into the dirt. It was only a Esoteric sa-60 and they have much better cdp than that one.Mike
SET amp w/Neg feedback?
Gentlemen,Thanks for all of the great responses. Everyone basically confirmed my own thoughts about NFB. I have a Cary sli-80 all triode w/ zero NFB. Its so much better than the regular sli-80 and they only have about 5db nfb. There is just a huge...
Spendor A6 vs Harbeth Compact 7ES-3
I owned both( not 6A's, but 6's) and IMHO the Harbeth is in another league.Better mids, highs, not as much, but better bass. Much more detail and just all around more complete sound. I have since sold both for various reasons, I doubt I would ever...
Coincident Super Eclipse or Devore Nines?
David12,So how did they compare to your Adagios'?ThanksMike
Coincident Super Eclipse or Devore Nines?
Arbuckle, I have had Super e III's and now have PE II's, I have a Cary Sli-80 and my mids and highs are plenty forward. I am the one that started the other thread that is referred to. I was looking for something less forward in the Devore not more...
