Which of these 4 Phono Pre you'dl choose?
I would have to agree that the Herron VTPH-2 is the choice at any price point. That said, Herron does take VTPH-1 units in on trade. IMO, a used VTPH-1 in your price range is the very best bang for the buck and still an excellent choice in most pr...
Entry level Phono Stage for Dynavector 10x5
IMO, a Herron VTPH-1 is in a completely different category than others around its used price range. It might be worth a call to Keith Herron to see if he has any used VTPH-1 units he has taken in trade.
Lyra Delos or Helicon versus Soundsmith Zephyr
I've got an original Aries Extended with a JMW-12 arm. I used to use a Clavis da Capo but switched to an AT OC9/II. My preference for the OC9/II is based on its weight and richness in the low frequency compared to the CdC. I know the CdC is a thin...

upgrade advice from a Linn LP12
If you think your Linn is good, then just go listen to other rigs to see what you like. It shouldn't take long to find something better.
Step up from AT150MLX on Technics 1200
If you are generally satisfied with the AT150MLX, you might want to consider an AT 33EV with a suitable step up device. For an AT, it's a bit warm.
Recommendation on MC cartidge and Phono Preamp
If your budget can tolerate the small stretch, you might consider a Herron VTPH-2. I haven't heard anything better. I'd strongly suggest a call to Keith Herron before you buy a different unit.
Zesto vs K & K phono stages
All that is true for any piece of high-end gear. Constant upgrades and revisions. It's why I usually qualify my description of the Herron VTPH-2 as being the best I've heard. I haven't heard any other phono stage equal it (most aren't even close),...
What's the best way to clean vinyl records?
@Whart - I'm using a VPI 16.5. After I vacuum the rinse from the record, I gently wipe the surface with a clean, "lint free" cloth (usually a spent white t-shirt).
What's the best way to clean vinyl records?
@Whart - Yes.
Phono Preamp and Cartridge selection
"It is as sonically as good as it gets." Sorry, still getting used to a neW KeYboaRt.
Phono Preamp and Cartridge selection
IMO, if you can spend a few dollars more, the Herron VTPH-2 will probably be the last phono stage you'll need. It is sonically as good as it VTPH-2 does not sound like tubes or solid state. It doesn't "sound" at all. It is just transparent to the ...
What's the best way to clean vinyl records?
I've used Miracle Record Cleaner for years. No second rinse. I don't agree that there are multiple "best" methods of record cleaning. There are only alternatives which are of varying effectiveness. My preference is to apply chemical solution to th...
What's the best way to clean vinyl records?
(Aren't there 583 different threads on this topic?) Call Disc Doctor (see his web site) and ask someone who has been studying this for years. He'll probably suggest some kind of vacuum record cleaning machine and he'll fix you up with the proper k...
Any Allnic H1201 owners out there?
Worldcat, I haven't heard anything that competes with a Herron VTPH-2. I own one. And I make that statement objectively, independent of owner pride. IMO, at its price, it embarrasses the competition. Without consideration for price, to my ears, it...
