Are Their any Tube Preamp with Home Theater Bypass?
McIntosh C12000, C2700 and C8 all have HT pass thru. I own the C2700 and use the HT pass thru with my Anthem surround processor.
How good does my system have to be to realize an improvement with cables?
@overthemoon Would you mind sharing what cables you tried with your McIntosh gear? I just upgraded to a C2700/MC462 combo. Using AQ Mackenzie XLR interconnects and generic 12AWG speaker wire. Pretty happy with the XLRs but haven't compared them to...
tube pre & ss amp integrated
The MA352 is a nice unit. Owned one myself for awhile. With different speakers, it might have been a keeper. But my speakers present a difficult load, down to 0.6 ohms, and the direct coupled amp in the MA352 wasn't always up to the task. I would ...
Finally made the transition to a tube preamp!
Sounds like a great find. Enjoy! I'm in the tube preamp, solid state amp club, too. It's a nice little glimpse into the tube world without the hassle and expense of maintaining power tubes.
$4000 BUGDET - YOU ONLY HAVE 2 CHOICES - YOUR FEEDBACK MUCH APPRECIATED
Another vote for Anthem. Been using an AVM 60 for close to 6 years. ARC Genesis is far better than YPAO, MCACC, Audyssey, etc. I've used Yamaha, Denon and Onkyo AVR/HT processors over the years. Anthem beats them all.
Hint:  Change your Wi-Fi frequency to avoid interference with neighbors router
Excellent advice. Unfortunately if you have Comcast Xfinity and use their Wi-Fi router, those settings are locked down. The only way to change it, that I know of, is to do a full reset, and then the controls are unlocked for a while, but eventuall...
Adding a sub. - can i start with one?
Yes, but two is almost always better.  And IME not just for larger rooms.  My room is on the small side and I have no single space that is best.  100Hz null here, 60 Hz null there.  Two (or more) subs in different locations helps smooth out the ov...
Is it me or new audio gear is too perfect and give ear fatigue?
I'm not sure being new or old has as much to do with it as design and synergy between speakers, amplification, cables.  I actually get a physical headache if I listen to a system that is overly bright/detailed.  I recently auditioned a pair of gen...
MM, MC, or MI cartridge
@rvpiano -- Don't toss that Virtuoso!  It is basically an AudioTechnica VM95 body.  You can easily replace the cantilever and stylus with any AT-VM95 stylus.  I've done it, as have many others.  I replaced the stock stylus with an AT-VMN95ML micro...
Uneven room dimensions/reflections = uneven toe in as solution?
Somewhat similar situation with a a fairly narrow, asymmetrical room.  For me it took finding the right speakers that worked the best within my limitations.  Martin Logan ESL's were the answer.  Because of their narrow horizontal dispersion and li...
STREAMING - QOBUZ VS TIDAL AND ROON'S PREFERENCES
I can't quantify it, but I felt Qobuz sounded better to me than Tidal.  For lack of a better description, Qobuz sounded less digital.  Tidal has a few, more obscure, artists I like that Qobuz doesn't, but in the end the cheaper price and better so...
Homage to those who are pleased with your audio rig
I can say I am the happiest I've ever been with my system right now.  I'm probably done upgrading most of the major pieces -- preamp, amp, speakers, turntable -- for the foreseeable future.  But knowing myself, I will never be 100% satisfied to th...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
@twodogs112 mr Maynard was a bit demanding. Mangione was far more laid back Fun fact: My old high school used to host Maynard and his band for a weekend of shows every 4 or 5 years. My best friend’s dad was the HS band director and was the on...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
@twodogs112  I also worked the board for many well known artists visiting concert venues in my area. Just a few to mention a few, chuck mangione, Maynard furgison, and many others. That is really cool.  I was and still am a huge Maynard Fergus...
Ridiculous sale
Any product is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. In a free market, scarcity always drives up prices. Basic law of supply and demand. We all have free will here to decide if we want to pay a premium or not. If you don't, that's c...
