NAD M3 owners, your assistance is requested
Sonicbeauty,I didn't mean to put you on the defensive-this was about stepped attenuators clicking audibly-not how good your amp sounds. I think if it sounds good then it is good no matter what parts are inside. That said, here's some info from the...

Sonicbeauty, I didn't say it doesn't have a stepped attenuator, just that I couldn't find any literature saying that it does have one.

Sonicbeauty, the volume control in your amp may indeed be superbly implemented but I've never seen it described as a stepped attenuator with discreet resistors but rather as "electronic" and "analogue potentiometer".
Recommend a Tube Pre & SS Amp Combo
You might want to consider BAT. Plenty of tubed preamps and SS amps to choose from in the used market and many of their preamps are upgradeable and accept a phono board if you're into that. Made in America and great support for older products as w...
Subwoofer setup tips vs mfg recommendation
Yeah, the Mapleshade catalog is always "entertaining".
A Manufacturer that pays return shipping
Atmaspere got it right. Manufacturers can't control where their customers live and to cover shipping costs they'd have to plan on worst case scenario (cross country or worse) and then build that into their prices. I used to sell kitchen sinks and ...
Is good customer service about dead?
I have had great service from PSB, Acoustic Zen, Rotel, BAT, Parasound, and Wyred4Sound. In four out of six cases I rec'd attention from the owner or principal. In every case they were friendly and concerned and a couple even sent free parts as up...
Listening Chair?
Take a look at Stressless recliners. I have one that is modern looking in red leather and it makes a great contribution to my system synergy. I got one that doesn't have too high of a back unless I slouch so the sound doesn't reflect right behind ...

The clicking you hear is probably coming from the fancy stepped attenuator volume control your M3 is equipped with. I just sold an M3 that I had for a year and mine did the same thing and is considered normal. The BAT integrated I have now does th...
Are High End Audio Products Unreliable?
Rok2idIt's kind of nice to know I have more money than brains-makes me feel like I've arrived or something. But even if I now have more money than brains it still doesn't mean much if I don't have a lot of brains left.Snackeyp,I agree with other p...
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
Irv, I have a large aquarium in between my speakers so I have never been able to locate the sub near the middle. Who knows, if I had I might never have been driven to try stereo subs. I guess the plot thickens as our system details come out. In my...
what are your favorite movie soundtracks.
"The Decendants" if you like Hawaiian music or just want a nice intro to it. So accessible and pretty sounding I almost feel guilty like I should put on something screechy and hard to get in to but I usually listen to the whole album. This soundtr...
the meaning of the word "better"
All very cerebral and appropriate responses. What about my amp is better than your amp neener neener? That is frequently present on AG if you read between the lines.
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
Irv, you may have hit on something. I am less than 12' from my speakers due to my smaller room so there is less chance for the sound to blend before I hear it. I wouldn't call my setup nearfield but it isn't "farfield" either. I thought that when ...
Stereo and Fish tanks - noisy need help
I've used Fluvals for decades. Never had a leak.
