"Hardly Used / Less than 100 Hours / Took out for pics only"????
"If equipment is used 5 days per week, for two hours per day, only gets 120 hours use in 6 months."  2 hrs/day x 5 days/week x 26 weeks = 260 hours.
Help me select few vinyl LPs
There are many lists online.  This is a short list https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/best-jazz-albums and this is a long list https://jazzfuel.com/best-jazz-albums/ Both lists are annotated.  My collection (in CD not LP) overlaps b...
Why 432hz Tuning?
Google sent me to a scientific article with lots of interesting information about 440 vs 432: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1550830718302763#:~:text=4-,The%20current%20reference%20frequency%20for%20tuning%20musical%20instr...
Is soundstage DEPTH a myth?
When I moved my speakers (Vandersteen 2CE signatures) into the room, the  soundstage improved enormously: I can definitely hear that some instruments and some parts of the orchestra are in front of others.  I have had less luck with the Magnepan L...
What to do with my legacy CD collection?
It won't be worth your while to try to sell them.  If you have friends or neighbors who would like them and it would make you feel good to give them away, do that.  Otherwise, donate them to your nearby thrift stores (and get receipts).  The purch...
Banchmark DAC3B vs. Denafrips Pontus II (12th Aniv.)
The DAC 3B is available with a remote for an extra $100.
Sensitivity 86 v 90
Tube amps usually put out the same power into 4 or 8 ohms so that might not make any difference.  But I am surprised that your tube amp has to work so hard to drive your 90db sensitivity speakers.  I have a much lower-powered tube amp driving Vand...
BluSound Node and Node 2
I have have had a Bluesound Node 2i for several years and just bought the newer one for a second system.  (The 2i had some problems until it upgraded; the newer one is flawless so far.)  I am sure I could have bound a better streamer, perhaps at a...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
2psyop +1 - except don't use a Cat 5 cable; use a Cat 7 or 8 cable.  They are very cheap.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
ASR usually listens; it provided a reason for not listening in this case.  ASR provides objective measurements of equipment  It subscribes to the theory that good equipment should measure well.  It does not claim that equipment that does not measu...
Why should audiophile deniers be allowed on an audiophile forum?
You are not required to read every post and you are not required to believe very post that you do read.  If X posts that a particular network switch (just to pick a particular example) made an enormous difference in his system and Y posts that the...
Is it ok to stack LPs horizontally?
Archivists recommend storing LP's vertically.  They say that storing horizontally will tend to damage the LP's toward the bottom because of the weight above them.
Fedex and Ups Damage thread
I have less experience than some others here but have only once had an item damaged in shipment and once had a box damaged but the item was fine.  Most items were packed extremely well, some triple-boxed.  But I have seen both FedEx and UPS driver...
Let me end the Premp/Amplifier sound debate ...
I don't remember what Julian Hirsch said about amplifiers but AudioScienceReview does not say that all amplifiers sound the same or that they measure the same.
China built tube amps
@noske Like *anything* that might be under warranty other than a tube dying.
