A Worthwhile Untrasonic Cleaner
You definitely need something to break down the surface tension in the water. There is a commercial product, Terrigal I believe is the product name. It's what the Smithsonian uses to clean records with. There is a big thread on AK on the proper pr...
Replacement motor for Oracle Delphi turntable
Wow, 2 failed motors? What kind of motors do they use?BillWojo
Need to adjust the speed every time I turn on turntable
Frequency coming from your wall outlet is 60 Hz and is held very steady. Remember that the generating station is using HUGE generators, HUGE! the rotating rotors weigh many tons and through the grid are locked into generators from other power plan...
Amps with meters ...
I find meters distracting and don't care for them. The only indication that my stereo is on is a led on my ARC preamp and the glow of tubes on my Mac monoblocks. On another note, the only amp I ever blew up was one with meters. BillWojo
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
I have a restored pair of MC40 monoblocks from around 1962, makes them about 57 years old. Picked them up and restored them fairly cheaply. I can't really afford Mac gear. I use a 36 year old ARC SP8 as a preamp and a set of old Altec horn speaker...
A civil discussion about the state of Audio Research
I have had a few back and forth emails with ARC, first about purchasing a remote control for my LS15 preamp and the second time was about identifying the version of my newly acquired SP8 preamp. Lets see, LS is about 18 years old and the SP8 is ab...
Technics SL-1700 feet
Well my MNPCTECH feet came in today and they are very well constructed, the machining is first class and the rubber is nice and pliable. Once I get the table back together I'm sure they will work fine and it will look even better as well. https:...
NJ Audio Society?
Is anybody in SJ still getting together? A bunch of us from AudioKarma had a get together in Cherry Hill this past spring and it was a great success. There were several systems setup, a flea market area and a chance to meet folks and make lasting ...
Worth pursuing analog sound from digital?
I think glennewdick has a lot of truth in what he says. I am just getting back into records having used mainly CD's for years. I don't have thousand's to shell out for a DAC so I use an old (1990) Parasound D/AC-1000 DAC that uses two Burr Brown P...
Technics SL-1700 feet
I just ordered some of those MNPCTECH feet as well. They are the aluminum model with the tapered top and made for a Technics SL-1200. I'm putting them on my Yamaha PX-3 that I'm restoring. I already rebuilt the tonearm assembly and now I'm waiting...
ARCDB question, no pictures?
I'm using Firefox and it updates automatically. Elizabeth, your link works fine for me, just can't figure out how to save it in Firefox.ThanksBillWojo
Question About Audio Research Preamp Specs
My Mac MC40 monoblocks have an input impedance of 250K ohm. Pairing it with a Audio Research LS15 and it sounds fantastic.BillWojo
Are DAC's overpriced?
If all your playing is Red Book CD's than look at some of the top of the line DAC's from the early 90's. They used R2R chips. Today a lot of the super expensive DAC's are going back to R2R topology but they have to do it the hard way because there...
Linear tracking turntables, whatever happened?
Right near the end of the TT era before CD's took over the Japanese made some very nice high end LT tables. I have several, a Technics SL-M3, a Yamaha PX-3 and a Pioneer PL-L1000. My favorite is the Technics SL-M3. Super specs for wow and flutter ...
