Teach me about cartridge 'retipping'
@technick, I remember him well and he was a wealth of information. I understand why he was kicked off AK and he was warned repeatedly about selling his services in the TT forum. But to delete all of his post was a terrible thing to do. BillWojo
Favorite used tonearms under 1000 dollars
Thanks guys, gives me lots to think about. Not buying anything right now, just wanted some ideas on what to keep an eye out for. My Victor UA-7082 tonearm arrived today, now I need to find a chunk of aluminum to make an armboard insert. BillWojo

You don't say where your from but I would check with VAS Audio in NJ. He is very reasonable on cartridge repairs and has a fast turn around time. BillWojo

So did @chilli42 ever decide on a tonearm? This thread zigged and zagged in so many directions I think he may have bailed out on us.BillWojo
Turntable choices
Wow, a fellow likes his older B&O turntable and so many of you are telling him to ditch it. If he's not comfortable repairing it I would advise to send it to a B&O specialist for a full service at this point. What would a new table cost th...
Have a Victor UA-7045 tonearm coming
knollbrent, are you talking about Vlad out of CD?  chakster, I assumed that this was going to need the isolation bushing but was wrong. Even with the weight out at the end of the stub it barely moves down. Not a single scratch on the tonearm tube ...
To venture back into vinyl or not,...that is the question.
A great TT that fly's under the radar is the JVC QL-7 or QL-A7. Dead nuts speed stable and has a slightly lesser version of the very good UA-7045 tonearm. I was blown away the first time I heard mine. AT makes a very good cart with a microline sty...

chakster, the tonearm I received could pass as NOS if it came in the original box with headshell and cable, it's that nice. All in with shipping from Japan it was less than $300. I got very lucky with that deal but the pictures were clear and it l...

Yea, I couldn't follow that either. No offense Raul, My Spanish is far, far worse than your English.  BillWojo

The tonearm tube is a aluminum -magnesium alloy. Anodizing the tube after it's made creates a thin protective layer of aluminum oxide. Anodizing is also an effective electrical insulator, it's why so many heatsinks are anodized. I agree totally ab...

raul, could you explain what this means? It was directed at me. Are you taking a potshot at my new tonearm? Problem is that those designs are undamped/way resonant and second are balanced designs and just rings as a " bell " using a non-adequated...

Thanks for the info on anti skating, I've always done it the old way, set AS = to VTF. when I get this setup I'm going to dial in a little bit and go from there.BillWojo

Thanks guys. Currently I’m using a JVC QL-A7 with the UA-5045 tonearm that has auto lift. It’s a nice tonearm but this is even much, much nicer than that. Fit and finish on this reminds me of a high end camera. This doesn’t even have any minor scr...
DL-103 + A23 SUT + Pro-Ject Tube Box DS = ?
Not at all. I don't think I'd waste my money on that Nasotec. Not every gram of mass added to the headshell adds to the effective mass either, it's not as simple as EF mass = 12 Grams and a 10 Gram headshell = 22 grams of EF. I would use as heavy ...
