most effective bass traps
ShadorneAs an aside, I enjoy your well thought out responses to many questions on this forum. Am I correct to assume that using corner traps, such as ASC tube traps, is virtually always likely to improve bass response? One nearly always sees them ...
most effective bass traps
Thanks for all the responses thus far. I have seen the data on the Real Traps and other websites. It's difficult for me to view the data as objective since I have no direct knowlege of the subject and the results support the product being advertis...
YG Acoustics add in Stereophile
What have YG owners been impressed with that has led them to purchase these speakers? I have heard good things as well. PS I assumed this thread would be about their ads calling themselves the best speaker ever/period or whatever they say.
Has Anyone heard The Boulder 1021 CD player?
Little feedback on this unit so far. Surprised no one has heard it. Seems like a novel approach to CD playback.
Has Anyone heard The Boulder 1021 CD player?
Surprising there are no comments as yet. Apparently It works by prereading the disc and inputting the information into a computer, then playing the bits. I don't know how similar this is to the memory player.
Best digital cable to audition?
I tried the Stealth Varidig Sextet in my system last year based on the many glowing reviews on this forum. It wasn't even close to the Tara Labs 0.8 digital that I had in place at the time. It suffered in detail retrieval, bass control, and PRAT c...
Sound Application line conditioner experience?
I haven't installed the outlets yet. Thoughts on that? Also what did you find as far as power cords?
Sound Application line conditioner experience?
Had the opportunity to spend a week with the new version of this conditioner, RLS-1. Very impressive! I let it warm up for about 4 hours and went in for a listen. It was so good that I played every disc I could think of until it was unreasonably l...
Sound Application line conditioner experience?
I am supposed to have the unit tomorrow. I spoke to Jim Weil today and his comments mirror some of your experiences. He claims there is a big performance jump from the xe-12 to the RLS. The unit I am to receive is the RLS-1, which is (according to...
Sound Application line conditioner experience?
Thanks for all the comments so far. It's interesting that there is no concensus as far as these devices go. It appears to be somewhat system dependent. I put the running springs conditioner on my old front end and at the time it was nothing short ...
REL subwoofer hum
Mine has a hum all the time and my amp chassis doesn't have a ground on it. What to do? Called Sumiko once and they told me to unscrew one of the screws on my amp to connect. Called the amp manufacturer who said that would immediately void my warr...
Some impressions from the 2007 RMAF:
Reading the reports over the last few days has been very interesting/enlightening. One of the rooms I had been told was a must listen was the Karma room (535 I believe) with their larger speakers. As I walked in they were playing vinyl and it soun...
Is there such a thing as audiophile parametric eq?
Why does it seem like using an EQ is like blasphemy to most audiophiles. I have heard a good friends mega buck system sound amazing with a TACT (modded). I also heard a reasonably impressive demo of the lyngdorf at RMAF.
RMAF: My favorites, so-so's, and disappointments
Although the marketing hype in the nordost room was painful to listen to, the sound was amongst the most impressive I heard at the show. I had never heard of those speakers before (Eben by Raidho). I understand these were not even their top of the...
best preamp ever - cost is no object
Nice thread. As usual some good technical advice admixed wth some verbal assaults on people's character. Always amusing! My comments will relate to the tennis analogies made earlier. In my youth I was amongst the top 10 tennis players in the world...
