Amplifier Experience Gryphon Pass Lamm BAT
Man you have some great choices here. My personal decision would be BAT with the sound you've described. Also the 52se is upgradeable to Rex down the road. The other good thing is there is a good bit of the BAT gear on here both used and demo bein...
Best 3 tube preamps under $18000?
I would seriously have to stretch a couple of grand for the BAT REX or get the VK52se which may not be the best under 18k but it is upgradeable to the rex which is one of the if not the best pre-amps out there at any price.
BAT or Cary Pre with BAT VK-55?
I think you should leave BAT with BAT since you say you like the bat sound.
BAT VK-52SE VS Audio Research Ref 3
I second Tom. The 52se is upgradeable to the REX and the rex is one of the best pre's anywhere. This would weigh heavy in my decision to the point where I would not only audition the 52se and the ref 3 but also the rex because if you get the 52se ...
IC's from pre-pro to amp
Not sure how cheap is cheap but look at the lowest price Kubala Sosna. Not only are they bound to be great cables for the money, they also have a unbelievable upgrade policy where I think you get like 80 to 90 % on trade up to better cables in the...
Speakers that disappear
The Wilson Sasha will disappear. I can't believe how not only the mids and hi's are so transparent but also the mid bass and bass. Across the entire stage right to left they can be transparent. Also good for me is they don't have to be half way in...
BAT VK-52SE VS Audio Research Ref 3
John what cables were you using in this combo while trying the bat and arc? Power cords, interconnects, and speaker cables.
Wilson Audio's New Sound?
The same can be said maybe even if you find a demo of a speaker you like. You may buy it and get it home to find you really don't care for it as much as you thought. That is why when I heard the Sasha I tried to duplicate as much as possible of wh...
Wilson Audio's New Sound?
I heard the Maxx 2 at an event set up by Peter Mcgrath himself and didn't like them much. My friend is a retired musician and his opinion is Wilson and has been for some time. He now has Maxx 3. I heard the Sasha and fell in love with it. I don't ...
Why power cable effect overall syste sound?
I can speak from experience with the pioneer elite, had the venom from Shunyata in mine for some time and it made it even better than it was as far as the picture goes.
Wilson Audio's New Sound?
I have only listened to one classical disc with my new setup and that is Beethoven #9 and it was fantastic. My stage was layered with depth beautifully and it was atleast 20 feet wide with obvious great separation. My speakers are only 9 feet apar...
Wilson Audio's New Sound?
Camali, I listen to mostly Blues and Classic Rock and if you didn't get an excitement factor in that genre of music with the Sasha, I promise it wasn't the Sasha's fault. In my system they will do anything from Classical to heavy metal just fine.A...
Why power cable effect overall syste sound?
I found recently that my power cords from one company was changing my sound and tone and affecting its overall dynamic range. I now use Running Springs HZ cords and one of there claims is to not be used as so called tone control. My system was fin...
Personal amp evolution
Wow, this is a great thread to really go back in time and see all the things done.1. Onkyo reciever, not sure the model back in late 90's though.2. Conrad Johnson MF22503. Rotel RB 10804. Conrad Johnson MF25005. Conrad Johnson Premier 350 (demo fo...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
I thought my Mcintosh 2301's were great and they were but now I own the BAT VK600M-SE which are 600 watt mono blocks. They are a keeper for me for several reasons. One I think they are unique. They require two power cords and the reason from what ...
