Are You a Swifty?
@onhwy61, I suppose the the term sensitive is more fitting in this situation. I hate politics in today's scenario. One is reticent in the mundane act of placing a sign in your front yard or a bumper sticker on your vehicle. Having the fear of some...
Are You a Swifty?
@roxy54, jeez, I figured that the subject matter and comment would also include the obvious inference of sarcasm/cynicism. Why is everyone so SERIOUS all the time??   AB

Intelligent people should just stop responding to the haters much like the broadcast people quit showing idiots running onto the field. They only do it it for attention. Dear  Haters, why can't you just say "It's not my cup of tea" and move on, t...
Noir album recommendations
For some time I've been meaning to start a post on a similar subject. After becoming enamored with the film "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button", I purchased the soundtrack and love disc 1 for 'sleep music' (I could do without the bombing sequenc...
Mcintosh pre amp pricing
I've owned McIntosh gear since 1971. Have always paired with JBL speakers. I have gone thru many different models and configurations with few issues. Have four different systems in use at this time with three of the four powered by McIntosh. The ...

I took Frank Zappa’s advice
Frank Zappa was a musical genius. There's no one on the planet that could contradict this sentiment. He demonstrated this fact by excelling at all types of music from rock to pop to jazz to classical. Open your mind to the cynical, and humorous p...
Is There Just One Single Album That Does It For You, Completely? Just One.
The 'White Album' would be a great choice, however I'd have to go with Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'.  P.S. Theres about a hundred more that run a close second....
Any other Pipe And Slippers Audiophiles out there?
Oh yeah,  @akg_ca, 71, quit smoking tobacco 12 yrs ago, preferences, a fine old Bourbon and my vape pen, all the nicotine, without the tar! McIntosh w/ JBL's. It's all good except for the aforementioned side effects. Getting old isn't for meek.

+1 @akg_ca "We are all one".
Any recommendation for a CD changer?
I also use a CD changer. I have found and used for close to 30 years, a Denon DCM 390. I enjoy the shuffle feature for my 3000+ CDs. A new lazer was installed a few years ago at the cost of around $200. The Denon is similar to Onkyo units. One is...
A weighty conundrum
To the good people that responded to this and to any of you that find this, I got an answer. My repair technician explained to me that the inner bearings for the arm have defaulted. This turntable has been such a great one (for me) for the last 23...
The greatest Pop song yet written and recorded.
My turn... 1  Imagine  John Lennon 2  No Regrets  Tom Rush 3  Triad  Jefferson Airplane (think David Crosby wrote it) 4  Don't Make Me Dream About You  Chris Isaak They're all tied for first in my estimation
A weighty conundrum
Follow up on my "weighty conundrum". I found both my Ortofon scales and I'm sorry to report that I am unable to get a repetitive reading on any of them. The VTF changes on each measurement even at 15 second intervals...So it's off to see my repair...
A weighty conundrum
I totally agree with you. As stated earlier, in order to get the arm load meter to the proper weight, the counter balance had to be pushed back to the very back of the tone arm. When I attempted to operate the automatic play, the arm became unresp...
