After the thrill is gone
Oops hit the enter.  Referring to the Mangepan 1.7i vs 3.7i's.
After the thrill is gone
If your electronics and noise control are good you should easily hear the difference in the top end. Smoother and more refined and overall a little more relaxed midrange.
After the thrill is gone
I have Maggie 3.7i's.  I have a pair of REL S/510 SHO subs.  Last week one of the subs lost power and even though I had one sub working the change was dramatic.  The midrange was hard and the upper range was rolled off.   I hardly noticed the drop...
Analog vs. digital
For me the difference is listening to music vs listening to my system.  But I easily have 5X more invested in digital and spend most of my time listening to digital.  I just hate listening to the last track on a a record knowing I have to get up w...
STREAMING - QOBUZ VS TIDAL AND ROON'S PREFERENCES
@jeffseight I was lucky that Sense came out just before my Roon subscription was set to renew.  I had no reservation choosing Sense's improved SQ over Roon's vast library and search functions.   And yes Qobuz is better than Tidal by enough I canc...
Innuos 2.1.0 upgrade
Ok I was hearing it differently, one of my subs lost power coincidently with the upgrade.  I don't appreciate any change now.
Innuos 2.1.0 upgrade
If there is no difference in sound quality then I am hearing it differently.
Should I add a DDC? Looking for experienced advise please.
I slipped an Iris between a Statement and Terminator Plus and even though the USB on the Statement is highly touted, converting to I2S was better even without using the clock out from the TP. Quality HDMI cable will make a difference.
Basic switch....should I upgrade?
I have 3 switches and each brought an improvement  I found fiber sullied the sound but I think I used copper on my etherregen at the same time so maybe that was the issue I found using a Mutec external clock on the Etherregen and SOTM switches m...
Volume Control Too Sensitive
I have/had the same problem with Allnic 8000DHT pre and Pass XA60.8 amps.  I was able to change out a set of the DHT tubes for lower gain tubes.  Interestingly I recently added a pair of Akiko Corelli's for noise and can increase the volume a few...
Quest for an external Dac has resulted in me way down the rabbit hole
I have a Denafrips Terminator Plus and it is amazing.  Before that I had a Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 DSD SE and an upgraded Schitt Yggdrasil.  The W4S was much better with more meat that the Yggrrasil.  You can pick one up for less than 1000. https://...
Was my friend given misinformation.
The OP said his friend was getting into music.  The BB salesperson did him a solid.  He will be able to appreciate swapping out the Denon for a used Adcom or NAD something with guts and current to drive the speakers.
Mixed Brand Pre-Amp Power Amp Pairings that Work
Allnic L8000DHT with Pass XA60.8 on Mangepan 3.7i's.  Amazing but the input sensitivity of the Pass is 1.1V to full output.  I ordered a second set of low output DHT tubes but still can hardly get to 12 oclock on the attenuator.  Fortunately the A...
Power Cord for DAC
I have Wywire Platinum Digital Power cords on my DAC and Pre amp  I think they are in your price range.
Sunday dreaming about preamps...
Larryi mentioned the Allnic L-3000.  I had a used L-3000MkII that I sold for a used L-7000SE that I sold for a new L-8000DHT. There is a significant step up to the L-7000, you can get one used for around $ 7500.  It is a really nice product.  It ...
