Concert halls from around the world. What have been your favorites.
@middlemass And wake up in the car Sunday morning, down some warm beers and head next door to the race track. Good times.
Stuff You Tried To Love
Bryston amps. Dry, sterile, flat, then least musical components I have ever suffered through hearing. McIntosh anything. Just don't like the "house sound" of the big M. Obviously this is subjective.
Seeking Honest Opinions: Your Experience with McIntosh Audio Gear
The three things I know about McIntosh gear: 1 It holds its resale value incredibly well. 2 Their components tend to be built to last a long time. 3 I'm not a fan of the McIntosh "house sound".*  If I wanted to try McIntosh gear, but wasn't su...
How does bi-wiring work?
Now that multiple people have told the OP bi-wiring doesn't do anything for their setup, I'll kick in my $.02. With my speakers, I get a subtle but definite improvement. Less so with decent quality jumpers replacing the OEM plates, but still a sli...
Best Covers
Only three come to mind. The Rockets cover of "Oh Well", David Gilmour's "There's No Way Out Of Here" " and Juice Newton's "Angel Of The Morning".
Favorite Obscure Rock Song
57 Channels by Bruce Springsteen, with his nod to Elvis.
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)?
Using a previous poster's definition of "band" and "group", I'll go with the band (loosely defined) that had more hits than any other gathering of musicians-The Wrecking Crew. They made the careers of some pretty big names.
(dons Helmet, kevlar vest and cup.) Biwiring Cornwall IVs any benefit?
My experience applies only to my set up, so grain of salt, etc.. My Paradigms absolutely benefited from bi-wiring. Maybe it's the connector the speakers come with between the binding posts, but bi-wiring makes a positive and very audible improv...
Dealers with excellent listening rooms?
They're probably long gone, but Imperial Sound in Tulsa, OK in 1983 was great. They asked what gear I wanted to audition, then told me to pick some albums off the MoFi rack to listen to. They moved a Tandberg stack, a pair of ADS L1530 speakers, a...
"I'm a believer"
I don't believe in the "diminishing returns", at least not as a universal truth. When you're in to the subjective the value of the return is up to the one who spent the money. That, and a $100k system does sound way better than a $20k system-ass...
From pass xa25 to krell k-300i
I believe JA, at Stereophile, got more like 80 wpc from the XA 25. So not quite the power deficit advertised, relative to the Krell.
Counterfeit Chinese Cables
It seems an awful lot of people are ok with stealing, as they justify it with a number of ethical and moral gymnastics. Outsmarting right vs. wrong is laughable. They're thieves, plain and simple. Anyone who knowingly assists the thieves in pro...
Two questions to make you mad.
This thread seems very...kenjit.
Speakers 10 years old or older that can compete with todays best,
Still happy with my v.3 Paradigm Studio 60s. I'd be happier if I had my old ADS L1530s back, though. They were very good, IMO.
What happen to MQA on Tidal?
Soooo, physical media isn't really "dead" and I should hang on to my CDs?  My fixed income and 3 Mbps internet (I kid you not, 3 Mbps) seem to have kept me from going down the streaming rabbit hole. Best of luck to all the early adopters, but I s...
