Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Will someone at audiogon please delete this old post? 234 pages, really? Geeze.
Prima Luna Premium Pre or Conrad Johnson ET3 SE
Meanwhile back at the ranch the original poster is no closer to getting valid comparison feedback like he asked for. Personally I feel businesses that stand to make a profit from a particular product in question should probably avoid commenting on...
Marantz PM 17SA v PM 8003
I would assume that the PM-17SA would hold it's value better so if you are one who flips equipment often I would consider going with that one. I agree with Paraneer and I can't help but think the 17SA is built to much higher standards.
ARC Phono Ref 2 SE - Dealer Demo Unit Worth Price?
Me, for 10 g's I would buy a lower noise Pass phono stage and pocket the dollar savings. But that's just me. There's a factory refurb XP-25 for sale right now for $6800 at Reno Hi Fi web site that looks pretty good. (no connection to seller other ...
ARC VSi60 vs PrimaLuna Integrated Amps
If I were considering the Primaluna then I would give Kevin at Upscale a call. He can be a teeny bit of a "hard sell" sometimes but he really knows his stuff and he will treat you right. I bought a component from him once that got damaged in shipm...
Familiar with Pro-Ject Phono RS line stage anyone?
I ended up buying the RS, in part due to the high recommendation of my trusted and reputable dealer. Others considered were used products at quite higher price ranges (used Pass Xono and used Parasound Halo JC3) but in the end I decided to just sa...

I'm sorry but one should take any "review" from any 76 year old with a friendly grain of salt. Unless the reviewer publishes hearing tests to accompany the review. I don't mean to sound harsh in any way, ... but it is what it is, and there's no ge...
Recommend Class a Amp
Good info. Thanks for the detailed analysis Bombaywalla.

Fair point, Tubegroover. I went overboard I realize that now. My apologies.
Pangea AC14SE or Shunyata Venom S for tube preamp?
Thanks all for the feedback, I will give these a try on my preamp.
Best bourbon?
Update on the Rowan's Creek: it is a real winner, just as I remember it from a tasting I attended a few years ago. I highly recommend Rowan's Creek. I will compare it to Booker's in flavor, but at a significantly lower price for "everyday" sipping...
Recommend Class a Amp
I own B&W speakers that are not inefficient but which respond well to the grunt that the AB designs deliver.isn't this a contradictory statement (it sure looks like one to me)?Hi Bombaywalla: not really the same thing. When I mentioned "not in...

I think Taters hit the nail on the head. I prefer Pass Labs' product cycle approach. They are very deliberate in their R&D and only release a new product that is fully mature and will be viable for at least a handful of years (i.e. more than 3...
Pangea AC14SE or Shunyata Venom S for tube preamp?
I can try them for sound quality myself but I just wanted to know if they are suitable for the preamp in the first place.

Just one more thing. If you thought the Ref-75 SE is killer, wait until you hear the new SE mkII. My source tells me it breaks new ground in effortless pretentiousness. Don't worry regular SE owners, you are allowed to send in your SE models to AR...
