Update on Audiogon Member Almarg
Thank you, Al, for your unmatched expertise, wisdom, patience and generosity, extended selflessly even to the relatively unsophisticated and unknown 'Goners, like me.  I have learned a great deal from you, only some of it related to audio.Deep pea...
For anyone who moved from tubes to solid state — a question
I loved the sound of my tube gear.  I put up with the inefficiency, meaning the furnace-like heat.  I began to wear down, though, from the cost of re-tubing and once having to ship the amp back to the manufacturer for repair when a tube blew up.  ...
Audio Research Sold
Well, they are releasing a 50th anniversary book, the history of ARC...it is unclear whether the book will run on KT 150’s.
Ok now I am frustrated with streaming
Why does poor digital audio signal cause dropouts and poor digital video signal cause pixelization but no dropouts?

Amp recommendation to drive Thiel 3.6 speakers
I had 3.6’s (also from Soundings in Denver, coincidentally) paired with a Krell KSA 200 rated at 200/400/800 watts at 8/4/2 ohms.  The Thiels sounded awesome with that pairing.  They sounded good with a KSA 100, but great with the 200.

Great resources.  Thanks tomcy6.
The meaning of “Remastered”

All-in-one integrated, 10-15K range, class A/B only
I’m very happy with my Ayre AX 5 20.  Definitely worth a listen.
Audio Research CD-2, any still using, or feedback on your experience.
I owned one and thought it was excellent.  It began to develop an irregularity in the mechanical operation of the CD drawer.  It still worked but I was concerned about parts availability if it would fail.  I eventually sold it.  I always thought i...
Loudness - Why has the industry stopped producing amplifiers with this feature any longer?
I had a Yamaha receiver for my office system that had the variable loudness.  As Vermonster said, you turned up the volume to the maximum you were likely to ever listen and then used the rotary loudness control to decrease the output to the desire...
Does anyone collect something else other than music.
Guitars and single malt. Those of you who collect watches might enjoy reading “A Grand Complication”, by Stacy Perman.  An amazing recounting of the quest to build the finest watch.
Most amusing album or song titles
How about Spooky Tooth, "You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw"or the great Vince Gill title (Not sure he ever actually wrote the song) "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips At Night That Have Been Chewing Your Ass All Day Long".
Are manufacturer AC cables good enough?
Ayre doesn’t know how long your power cord will be or what you will plug it into.  While the supplied cord is adequate for general use, many of us like to refine our systems to better serve our particular ears, tastes and listening environments.  ...
