Life is too short to buy someone else's favorite stereo gear
Life is too short to base your audio buying on someone else’s audio preferences. If that’s what you mean I couldn’t agree more. But it also raises the question of the value of expert reviews when one doesn’t know the audio preferences of the revie...
Streamers with best apps?
@headspace The one work around with the lack of integration between BluOS and Amazon Music is to make all your favorite music selections in the Amazon Music app and then they will (eventually) show up in BluOS app. Seems to work better when the AM...

Amazon just killed Tidal
Because I cancelled Amazon’s Music Unlimited two months ago I am not eligible for the 90 day free trial. I have Prime so it says I have to subscribe to a minimum of three months at $7.99 a month for HD then it would go up to $12.99. I canceled Unl...
TEAC NT-505 FUNCTIONAL REVIEW
Get a copy of the Minimserver User Guide. It explains how to configure it.After you install the server and the desktop icon is green, click on the small icon in the tool bar. Under properties you define which drive your music is on. You should the...
bluesound node 2i with chord quest
" I understand is not as sonically good as ethernet hard connection. "If you have good decent wifi signal in your basement then you should not notice a difference between wifi or ethernet. I understand the Node 2i even has improved connection pro...
TEAC NT-505 FUNCTIONAL REVIEW
I started this thread five months ago and after using the NT-505 feel compelled to submit an update. 1. I am still thrilled with this product. In my prior review did not emphasis what a great PREAMP this DAC is because I was using it with a pr...

Could headphones be used to evaluate speakers?
@clearthinkIt is better but definitely NOT easier. That's the whole point. Shipping a pair of large floor standing speakers across the country to audition in home and possibly have to return them is not easier.
Could headphones be used to evaluate speakers?
@jlj   Elevate vs "Evaluate"  ;-)
TEAC NT-505 FUNCTIONAL REVIEW
@canibefrankAnd just to be clear, the Musical Paradise DAC is a wonderful sounding DAC. I do recommend it if you don’t already have a tube system. It is just that in my tube system I liked the TEAC better. I will likely be using the MP DAC in my S...
Tube Amps Watts vs SS amp
The tubes vs SS discussion should focus more on the type of music one prefers rather than the technical merits of each amp. I have multiple tube and SS amps that I interchange frequently. If you primarily listen to Jazz, voice, acoustic music of a...
Who is using their DAC as a preamp?
I am using my TEAC NT-505 DAC as a pre-amp in front of two CARY 805AE mono amps. I am very happy with it. It replaced a Modwright SWL 9.0 tube pre-amp, which is no slouch pre-amp. I moved the Modwright to my other system which is all SS. A better ...
TEAC NT-505 FUNCTIONAL REVIEW
I have not made comparisons to other stand-alone DACs in this price range. I will say that this DAC does not have a sonic signature. It gets out of the way. So if you are looking for a DAC that "adds" something this may not be it. The only other ...
