Koetsu surprise
Hey Karl when I cut you the arm board for the FR I’ll put an on the fly spindle to pivot adjustment on it. Well get that beautiful cart dialed in perfect!Bruce Anvil
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
I'm just saying there are plenty of arms with less friction, which of course is only one criterion. I think UCLA? came up with the Townsend design and he marketed it.
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
Totally agree. A golf ball floating in goo is hardly low friction. Many examples of lower friction tonearms.
Ground Hum with Rega RP6, Exact and TT PSU.
Go online and find some "MuMetal" adhesive backed shielding. Wether or not you have a ground issue Rega motors will make some cartridges hum like crazy. Lift the pulley and put a piece of the metal over motor. With luck this will solve the problem...
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
I'm hungry now!  High mass tables certainly do a better job of tenderizing.  Think I'll rip that porterhouse from under the table and fire up the grill
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
Yes, meat.  Highly underrated, lol.  I think at some point value becomes the determining factor for many. Spending 3-5k on chipboard, plastic and glass seems a stretch when compared to mass design approaches.

Compare this with anything mentioned in postsAnvilturntables.com
High mass vs Low Mass Turntables - Sound difference?
Heavy platter turntables virtually always produce lower w&f and drift. The tend to produce what I would call an "elegant" or graceful sound. They also tend to have a lower noise floor. You know it when you hear it. It is a myth that they sound...
$5,000 to spend for analog front end - advice please...:)
I can build you a 2500-4k turntable that competes with 5 figure products. You mentioned "prat" a particular strength of my design due to its special low friction bearing Read Michael Fremers review of my "Alloy Convertible". Despite the glowing re...
Has anybody heard this newer brand of turntable? Shineola Runwell out of Detroit, MI USA?
I have been manufacturing the Anvil "Alloy Convertible" turntable in Detroit since 2010. Please compare.Bruce
Feedback through turntable
Coupling a component to a vibrating surface isn’t "isolation". As a turntable manufacturer I have a pretty good idea of what works, however there are many variables and results can be unpredictable. I consider direct coupling methods as "tuning" d...

Cones and blocks do nothing for isolation. I manufacture a heavy magnetic levitating damped footer that is often effective in your situation. I have a new less expensive version than the one on my website. Regards,BruceAnvil Turntables
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
Belt tension not an issue with properly designed bearing. All designs have compromises.  Good tables of any design are hard to manufacture!
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
All of the above drive systems can yield excellent results, although I have found in my products, string drive has offered the least compromises. I will be unveiling a pretty interesting new design at Axpona this year. Anvil Turntables
Best value record cleaner/cleaning system
The "Spin Clean" is a fave among my customers looking for "basic" cleaning. As mentioned before vacuum and ultrasonic cleaning is superior. Anvil Turntables
