My Morning Jacket / anyone seen a show ?

Yes. I saw them a few years ago and they were great. At the time they were supporting "Z' and seemed to be having a good time improvising on some of the "jammier" numbers like "Off the Record". They were loud, but I enjoyed them immensely. Jim James has a captivating voice. My Morning Jacket has a new album called "The Waterfall" being released May 4th.

I saw them twice in the last couple years. Fans would say the're the best live show going right now.

Did you like Jim James' last solo record ? It wa one of my favorites !!
I'm not sure if I will take the plunge and go see them .

i saw mmj at lollapalooza (with a kids orchestra!) and also at a 600 person hall--they are a great live band. jim james is really one of the best singers of this generation, and they jam purposefully, without the formless wankery of so many of their peers. that said, i find their each of records after "it still moves" to be progressively worse--they're going farther away from the spacey/country/soulful thing they do so well and closer to glossy MOR. i just heard a song off their new one (it's on spotify) and it was cringeworthy.

Thanks Loomis! Glossy MOR?? I'm listening to It Still Moves right now. I'm not sure how I missed this album. I must say that after the first three songs, I'm hooked on this album so far. l LOVE Z, and Circuital very much. I do enjoy Pop Rock or Alt. Rock, and Alt. Country. Thanks for the heads up on It Still Moves.
