I want to upgrade my Turntable to something heavier

I am about to retire from work. I would like to upgrade my turntable before I do this. I have a Pro-Ject, which I like a lot, but I have two big dogs. I have been considering something 1) heavier and 2) balanced. I have SourcePoint 10 Speakers driven by a PS Audio Stellar Amp. The Stelkar also offers Balanced inputs.

I am leaning towards the Pro-Ject X8 as being a good price with room for a better cartridge. I have considered VPI, but I don't care about upgrading. Once I am retired, this is it. Ideas or Suggestions?

May be a used Dr. Feichert Volare.
And a balanced phono stage I assume that’s what you meant?

The dogs stay - one is my nephew's and will leave with him. And yes, a balanced phono stage but I am not sure how important that is in the grand scheme of things.

I moved from a VPI Prime 21 to Acoustic Solid out of Germany. It was less money and performs better and made to a much to a higher standard. Acoustic Solid has a large selection as well.

I set up a Pro-Ject X8 for a guy.  It has been a while, if it is the one I am thinking of it has a shiny black plinth and a machined platter.  If so, it is an excellent turntable.  Very well made.  Better than that, exceptional.  It set up well, performed well, sounded good.  You can't go wrong with that one.

Many aftermarket plinths exist, for vintage, and even currently available TTs.

Is your existing model worth that investment?

What does Balanced have to do with the dogs?

IOW, if you have enough volume now, without noise, what advantage?
