amp I bought 3 days ago not powering on - electrical engineer advice wanted

There is no fixing anything today for fifty bucks. Just to walk in there with this amplifier and say hi will cost at least a hundred. Assuming it’s an easy fix, add parts to this. Best case $200. Timeline - I’ll be amazed if this is done in less than a month. I’ve never seen a repair, not counting warranty work by extremely reputable US manufacturers, take less than a month and that’s if you are really lucky. 

In June, when the tech tells you it's the power switch, I expect payment in full.

Seems right. I used to use $70/hour for labor as a minimum rough estimate, that was a decade to so ago. Also seems there are a lot less audio repair technicians/options available.

so I am actually very nervous but you all might find this funny. 

The tech was older than anyone I had met or seen on the street in the last couple months. His shop was filled with so much staff, up to my chest, that only a small child or a very slim person could fit between the "isles". At this point I am worried how he will carry such a heavy item.

He did seems knowledgeable though and in decent shape. I refrained from making silly comments, suggestions and all. 

I will again encourage my son to learn the trade. If this is the future of fixing used gear, the days of blissful audio (vintage or out of warranty) may be numbered.
