Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

jafant,

Yes I have two pair of CS 2.4SE.

Reporting back.

Well ig316b. and I had a very productive weekend.

As stated in earlier post we set up a pair CS 2.4SE and mono SS2 subs with their crossovers.

I'll let ig316b comment on the subs and crossovers.

The CS 2.4SE haven't been played for some time and I was sure glad to spend some time with them. We listened to just the CS2.4SE at first to hear their attributes alone then we would run with SS2.

They are fun speakers. They surely are easier to set up than their older siblings. We had them 10'-1.5" apart , 3'-9.250" from back wall, 4'-8.650" from side walls and was a perfect equilateral triangle to listening chair.

We had plenty of power to drive the 2.4SE so we were ready to see what they had to offer.

We played a variety of music. Everything we threw at them they played extremely well. We purposely did not play bass heavy tracks but kept our selections to the frequency range fitting for the 2.4SE.

At their price point you'd be hard pressed to find a speaker that is better. Different yes better that's questionable.

When we put in the mono SS2 things were about to change and change they did.

The speed and weight in the bass region with the SS2 was unexpected. It produced bass as if was coming from the 2.4SE and integrated very well with the room. we set them ups where we thought they should go and never moved them after that.

Outstanding!  Thank You for reporting back on this fun and important matter. Are either pair of CS 2.4SE utilizing Thiel Audio Outriggers? I completely agree with your statement about being hard-pressed to find a better loudspeaker at its price point.  This also applies to models CS 2.7 and CS 3.7 loudspeakers.

What Gear and Cabling is in this set-up?

Happy Listening!

All -

Second Note.  duramax747 addresses an important question for the fans/owners of models CS 2.4 and CS 2.4SE- to Subwoofer or not Subwoofer? During my auditions and trial periods from 2012 to 2014, none of those dealers/retailers had a Subwoofer implemented into those Systems, giving my ears a true Aural evaluation.  Specifically, both Thiel loudspeakers possess an incredible inherent and natural frequency range that is palpable and very pleasing with all genres of Music. In other words, not once did I want for more Bass. The passive radiator in both designs is the star of the show.

Happy Listening!

Greetings all:  i would like to weigh in on the subject of sub bass systems incorporated with Thiel speakers. Up until about 2013 I was content with the bass I was getting from my 2.4's.  I then acquired a single REL A/3 and got a taste of what a good sub can do. Next step was the acquisition of a pair of 2.7's and then a pair of REL S5/SHO subs.  I was beginning to get a real sense of what subs (at least REL subs) can do and it is not about just the bass. The sense of space and fullness in sound was becoming very clear to me.  Next step was the procurement of my beautiful 3.7’s in 2018 and a set of REL 812 subs in 2022. The final step was the recent acquisition of a pair of REL Carbon Special  subs.  The sound I am now experiencing is so amazing. The room and the speakers truly disappear. Subs are a must have for most systems in most homes.  Hopefully someday soon Duramax will visit my home and lend me the expertise of his hearing.  I also await the future updates he and TT are working on for the 3.7’s.

PS: I do have my set of REL 812 subs listed for sale on the other audio website
