Replacement platter mat for Rega RP8

Hi folks,

I am new to vinyl and purchased my first turntable (Rega RP8) a few years ago. Loving the experience and learning a lot.

The original felt platter mat needs to be replaced.

Did some searching around and came away very confused with so many options.
All I know is that the replacement needs to be the same thickness as stock to avoid inserting spacers under the tonearm.

Any RP8 owners out there who can recommend a good platter mat replacement? Would like to try something other than felt. So much static!

Thanks everyone!

Hideinthesound.com makes a great affordable leather/suede mat in the color of your choice, no static whatsoever. I use one on the metal plattered pro-ject the classic sb superpac turntable. On my music hall  mmf-7.3, I'm using a Stein music mat, expensive, $250. I also own a ring mat for the mmf-7.3, however, I do find that despite sounding good, produces static. So much so, that the ring mat will stick to the record upon removal.

When I had a Rega P-3, I used a Herbies Mat.

Very affordable and much better than felt.

I Had a suede mat on my Rega on static

I have Clearaudio and it has a POM platter with no mat

Appreciate the responses!

Finally found the time to look into this.

Just ordered the Herbies Mat.

For what it's worth, I used either 1. no mat, or 2. an old vinyl record as a mat when I had my P8.
