Little Richard passes away at 87. Another musical great joins the band in the sky.

He had a very good sense of humor and appeared on many Hollywood Squares.
Little Richard was a friendly guy. Is there anything to say about him that has not already been said?

Memories, light the corner of my mind...

"You and I are not going to leave this place without each other, I think."
I saw him in 1974 or '75 at the Ritz Theater on Sixth St. in Austin, a small former movie theater that was a music venue for those two years. It still had the original very small stage and movie theater seating and a friend and I had second row center seats, not more than ten feet from the stage. The members of his band were all wearing polyester one-piece suits in pastel colors with bellbottoms and zippers down the front. It was one of the most outrageous and enjoyable performances I've ever seen. He played that small room as if it were a giant arena.
