Bookself speaker for Luxman 590 axII

Mizioa, congrats on the Luxman very nice amp, is your question would a more modern set of bookshelf or monitor speakers be better?

The Ensemble monitors were fantastic loudspeakers and would only suffer in the comparison to a modern loudspeaker in terms of treble resolution, the foam core midrange driver was very special so it depends on what you are trying to do.

Also do you really need a monitor or could you go to a floor stander?

The Luxman he is referring to has pre out and also PRE IN to use it as an amp only.  I think he means has anyone used it as an amp with a different pre.
