Mary Chapin Carpenter with Tift Merritt opening Tuesday in Berkeley CA at the wonderful Freight and Salvage 'coffee house'. MCC played long and her voice sounds great. Backed up by her longstanding keyboard player and an excellent guitarist.
Vienna Teng last night in Berkeley CA. I think it was my fifth time. I guess you would call me an ultra fan. Before that, Peter Rowan.
Rodney Crowell with his guitarist virtuoso
Joe Robinson and talented fiddler, May 29 at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA. Joe did a solo opening act. His playing is beautiful and transformative. He did his rendition of "Over The Rainbow". I was in awe. Rodney and his cohorts went on to play a long, generous set. I could have seen them again the next day.
Mark Cohn last Sat. at the "Freight and Salvage" in Berkeley, CA. Don't miss this show if he comes your way. It was up there with the best.
Richard Shindel, folk artist last Thursday at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA.I just purchased a ticket to see Mark Knopfler next Sept. at Berkeley's Greek theater.

Last month, Melody Gardot at Yoshis jazz club in Oakland CA.

What a disappointment.

Joan Osborne a few weeks ago at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley  CA.

Sadly it was a big disappointment. The sound was  inexcusabley terrible.

Ms Osborne was upstaged by the instrumentalists. Her vocals were

muddled and way in the background. An expensive ticket. Merde.
