Would self quarantine be a challenge for an Audiophile? Home detention even a punishment?

With all the talk about people having to self quarantine, I started to think about what that would mean for an audiophile, and Would it even be much of a challenge?
Normal human being - “I had to self quarantine for 14 days and I’m ready to strangle somebody.”
Audiophile version - “I cleaned so many damn records I had been meaning to.... adjusted my VTA and azimuth and my system sounds better then ever, and after listening to the entire Miles Davis and Coltrane’s recorded output, I realized I could have left the house 2 days ago.”

And would some white collar criminal on home detention even be considered being punished? I’d be so content stuck at home with great audio system, home theater projection, laser light and planetarium show, pinball machine, infrared sauna, massage chair, I may decide to commit some “victimless” financial crime just to play with the toys I don’t always have time for.

nonoise,
Yes, that procedure is something else. The idea that your lens is removed and replaced is mind blowing.I actually inquired about putting in a "deluxe" lens, but my insurance wouldn't cover it!

You should be fine in a couple weeks. The second procedure will be easy, now that you know what to expect.  If there is still some sight deficit,  hopefully your doctor can just give you a few laser zaps to fine tune your eyesight. That was my case. I forgot to mention in my previous post-after the numbing medication wore off from the vitrectomy, I experienced pain( I could FEEL the stitches in my eye) and discomfort I wouldn't wish on anyone. Felt like glass shards/pins in my eyeball for the next 24 hours!

We just don't know what's in store as we get up in age. Also, we don't realize how good we have it, until it's gone.
"I just had the first of two cataract surgeries and I'm going a bit stir crazy."
Nonoise,

Hang in there. 2 years ago, I had  emergency surgery on BOTH eyes, 2 years ago. Left eye-retinal detachment. Right eye -retinal tears just before attachment!. Cataract surgery is a walk in the park compared to a vitrectomy, required for a retinal detachment. The procedure INDUCES cataract, so it was a built in,  follow up surgery.

I was impressed with the cataract procedure. It was like taking your car into one of those express oil change places. You're not even disrobed(just a the paper gown over your clothes) Patients were lined up in a staging area-one out, next one in ....Technology is amazing!

The recovery from a vitrectomy is BRUTAL. You must lie/look FACE DOWN (2 weeks for me)with only a 15 minute break every waking hour! This includes sleeping! You have to sleep FACE down. This was done with special pillow-basically a box with padded edges, so your face could fit inside. To make matter WORSE, I sleep with a CPAP( I have sleep apnea)

Not having the vitrectomy, and going blind was an option I chose not to experience.

Back to the topic....

Between my guitars, a small record collection(about 20 feet-what does that equate to?) and my 65 Mac tuner, I will be fine.At least I would rediscover albums I forgot I have!

No contact with the S.O. would be awful, could she at least drop off beer and pizza?
Gee,

It's  comforting to know you're in a "select group!" Any of you also in the tinnitus or arthritis club? Im a gold card, nearing  platinum level member of both!

You guys are smart, getting the upgrade, MKII lenses for cat surgery. I still have to wear readers, and on the cusp of full time "regular" glasses.

nonoise-if you're surgery requires sucking out the vitreous fluid, I wonder if you'll have the gas bubble, as in my vitrectomy? Vitreous is replenished by the body, so something needs to replace the volume in the mean time.

Weirdest thing is seeing thebubble level in the middle of your eyesight, while your eye slowly recovers. The gas bubble dissipates, as the vitreous is building up which can take days/weeks!

Also, Thank goodness for medical insurance!
Well, here's an interesting bit to ponder....

Does this mean, use the card and give it  an alcohol wipe every pass? Gloves while at the atm, gas pump?

nonoise-
It's amazing how the brain adapts to our temporary handicap. You will find the more road time, it becomes second nature.

"Al Jazeera is reporting Keith Richards has been asked to donate some of his blood to the FDA to see if they can clone it. Trump is reported to have said he thinks this could be a game changer."
I think they're on to something.
Everyone knows  Keef can withstand any medical disaster.Keefs medical makeup laughs in the face of death.Keef  could do  a gig(smoking a pack of cigs) with open wounds, a crowd of coughing, contaminated fans, and be perfectly fine for the next 5 decades.

Where is our only voice of reason among the clowns?
Where is Dr. Fauci?
I have plenty of not heard in a long time albums waiting to see daylight.

The system should be getting a workout the next few weeks.
It's been nearly 2 weeks since this thread started and look where we are now....

Unnecessary panic buying, lines at normally quiet stores and to make matters worse, short tempers of some of these idiots.

Well......
Things have tightened up. Stores with unnecessary lines of panic buyers increases.

We have a segment of our younger generation doing what they do best-dumb s#%t!https://nypost.com/2020/03/16/woman-licks-plane-toilet-seat-for-coronavirus-challenge/

Being in SoCal, I see people still out and about. It is believed there are MANY asymptomatic young people, making spreading the virus possible.

To gym members-I go to the gym maybe once a week, just to enhance what I do at home.I use these, along with a door jam pull up bar.https://powerblock.com

You can do a complete body workout, without the need of a gym. Best part, you can listen to music, no disgusting sweaty machines.

My favorite pasta sauce at Trader Joes is impossible to get know.
Toilet paper/napkins  and water are currently GOLD at any store.

On a lighter note, I'm rediscovering albums that have been tucked away. For some reason, I'm getting stronger reception on the 65 Mac tuner. Great!

"Ifs" on news reports are now "when"
Get ready for a long ride?

That report was from LAST WEEK.
The number of asymptomatic carriers has increased  what...?  somewhere between 10-50X to date?
I imagine those in in a position use a service like this, get their vintage tubes, uber cables and records delivered pronto!

Do you tip the pilot like elevator and doorman?
I wouldn’t let my truffle supply or cigar collection get low.
Took a little spin on the bike around the neighborhood.
It's not an "Omega Man" landscap-yet? Definitely  nice to ride around with no cars!

Down a popular strip of restaurants and independent retail, count every 4th location is now out of the former tenant, and for lease.

Those of us in direct contact with medical workers, know the what the "real" situation is regarding information on resources and protocol.

I notice LESS irresponsible activity among groups of people, so that's a good thing.
My local dive burrito spot and beer are still available, no stress.
Movie night with a concert DVD and movieS.O. cooking Thai for dinner. Work in a side or 2 of randomness from the collection.

Enjoy the moments. NOW

Back to thread topic.

Between the 65 Mac Tuner and enjoying my stampers, finally weeding out unnecessary albums.

4 states of bin diving along with neighborhood scores, paying off during a most challenging time.

Web surfing noticeably slower with umpteen bazillion users now online.

I am envious of everyone taking advantage of the deals on gear.

This thread has also been valuable with more perspective.
Thank you.
