Did you see the comments by Jeff Fritz of Soundstage? I'm an Avalon owner but am looking for other options.

I miss the relevance of Jeff Fritz's commentary. He states "Not having heard either speaker [Rockport Atria and Avalon Compas]", "Having heard many Avalon speakers at shows, and having tons of experience with Rockport Technologies". Disappointed, but not surprised that an assessment without an actual listening session has made it to this forum.
I'm following this thread closely too. I love my Eidolon Diamonds. Had them almost 10 years. Driven with either Rowland or ARC tubes makes a great presentation. But I have also been thinking about new speakers, specifically Rockports. With Lucien Pichette gone from Avalon, it makes me even more keen to start exploring other options besides Avalon when considering a new loudspeaker.
Jeff Fritz? Evaluating audio components at trade shows and publishing incredibly subjective 'better than' conclusions is not only unprofessional but simply absurd.

The only worthwhile information would be factual in nature such as the manufactures specifications, a description, the price, and contact information.

I too am sadden to hear of Lucien's absence (now with AudioQuest?). I still enjoy my Eidolons and I have no interest to jump back on the merry-go-round. I've recently had huge fidelity improvements with a new phono cartridge and a new ultrasonic LP cleaner.
Jeff Fritz is about the only review worth listening too these days. He is the only one I ever see saying he likes one speaker better than the other. No dancing around the question.
Siddh,

Jeff has heard the Rockports and other Avalons. I believe the author of the letter to Jeff had not heard the Rockport or Avalon Compas.
Goose, I'm still missing the relevance. The Compas is purported to utilize a different complement of drivers and electronics. Did he make his assessment on the pictures? I have spent years tweaking and modifying my system to obtain the music it now offers. Critiquing a component even with a limited listening session suggests merely a hint of it's potential, but to make comparisons solely from previous designs borders on religion.
I appreciate all the responses, but back o my point , has anyone actually heard the Compass??? If so , would really appreciate any feedback

I would bet the farm that Avalon with be at RMAF in two weeks and will likely be displaying the Compas. Vicksburg, If you can't make it up there for the show I would also bet that there will be several posters and reviewers writing about their listening experience with the Compas.

By the way, Lucien Pichette is with Jeff Rowland Design Group now.

James63 I hear your point, but I agree with Siddh. Willingness to actually take a position versus straddling the middle is simply not a defense for taking a position out of abject ignorance. Especially someone who favors himself an objective practitioner. Jeff has lost a great deal of credibility. His actions wreak of an agenda.

Back to the OP, did anyone have the occasion at RMAF to hear the Compas?
