Wireworld Platinum Starlight 8 USB

I'm ready to order, but not sure is there any difference between lengths 0.3m and say 1m...?
Anybody reviewed WW PS8 yet?

There are different grades of copper, silvered/tinned copper and solid silver. Only trial and error can bring the best results.

Maybe consider Dueland ready made cable not expensive https://audiolund.com/

My Platinum Starlight is Serial # 03843 so I’ve had it for a while. But I wanted to say that it took my sound towards a different direction than a copper cable would have. The components these cables are connected to makes a difference so three people with different DAC’s comparing the same cable is problematic. Right now I am wanting to upgrade the power cable in a way that compliments the Wireworld but I don’t yet know whether I should stick with silver or if I should opt for copper. Anybody got any suggestions?

@soix I had the Starlight 8 and it was ok. The DH Labs Mirage had it beat. In turn the DH Labs got dethroned by Audience USB cable in my system.

Jafant,

Thanks. The WW Platinum Starlight 8 seems to have the edge in areas of transparency and detail in comparison to the Tellurium Q Ultra Silver. I haven’t switched back to the Tell-Q to reconfirm my impressions and will do so sometime. Nevertheless, I am convinced that the improvements the WW cable has brought to the mix are something that’s real, and I’m rather stunned that a USB cable is able to do this.

Good to read that you are enjoying the WW Platinum Starlight 8 USB. Impressive that you also own the Tell-Q Ultra Silver model as well.

Happy Listening!

I can also vouch for the Silver Electra 7 Power Cord for Digital sources.

Happy Listening!

Yes! A Cable can (and does) make a positive change in sound in One's system.

Happy Listening!

I concur with ryder. The Starlight is plain. The Silver Starlight uses a touch better Silver Clad over Copper. The Platinum introduces solid Silver conductors.

I have no use for an USB cable in my system. I do enjoy the Silver Starlight HDMI cable for Blu-Ray/DVD playback with my T.V.

Happy Listening!

I’ve read an underwhelming experience from a Starlight 8 USB owner on another forum. After comparing the spec sheet, I found the Starlight 8 to be very similar to the lower range Ultraviolet which I also have. The only difference between the two cables is the higher silver clad content on copper. The Platinum uses solid silver conductor unlike all other USB cables which use copper with silver cladding. The plugs of the Platinum are also higher quality carbon fibre. The plugs on the cheaper WW USB cables are plastic if I’m not mistaken.

In summary, I haven’t made the comparison but believe the Platinum Starlight 8 is the one to get if looking to hear a worthwhile difference or improvement. In my experience, I find little to zero difference between cheap freebie cables up to Ultraviolet. Minor difference with Tellurium Q Ultra Silver. The Platinum Starlight 8 brought a worthwhile difference to the system and to me,  it's not subtle.

I’ve got a Starlight 8 still in the box and just wondering if anyone has compared to the Platinum?  Just curious what I might be missing because I’m a masochist.

I've owned a Audioquest Diamond, WW Platinum series 7 & 8. I directly compared the Shunyata Omega and WW Platinum series 8 USB cables to the Infigo USB cable. In my system the Infigo USB cable is more open, detailed, and natural sounding.

The Infigo USB costs $1,600 so I guess it would fit the higher end systems. The Wireworld Platinum Starlight 8 USB at $600 is a fraction of the cost so I can understand the Infigo is better. Nevertheless, I am amazed and shocked that the difference with USB cables is noticeably huge, and the performance of the WW Platinum Starlight 8 can still be improved. My early experience with cheap USB cables around $100 and some $5 and below freebies,  they all sound almost the same to me with negligible difference.

The WW platinum Starlight 8 replaced the Tellurium Q Ultra Silver that I was using for the past 2 years.

I thought the WW Platinum 8 usb was really great,,,until I tried the Infigo usb. Still can’t believe a cable can change the sound quality so much. I think you can also get one to demo like I did to compare with the WireWorld.

Late to the party. I recently invested in the Wireworld Platinum 8 USB. It’s the most expensive USB cable I currently have in the system and it’s marvelous. It brought a level of refinement and control to the sound which I wasn’t expecting.

I haven’t listened to the costlier options which Audioman58 has tried. Nevertheless, I am currently very happy with the improved sound quality of the system with the Platinum Starlight 8 USB. Who would have thought that a USB cable would have such an impact to the system. Recommended.

To be totally honest ,I had the platinum 8 ,very good detail but very non involving

spend a bit more money around $900 the Final Touch Audio Callisto is by far the most musically involving and natural cable under $1k

and their flagship Sinope usb is  most more expensive $1600 is the finest usb cable I have listened to up to $3k , even more so if you are streaming man6 recordings are fair in quality at best . Final touch audio bring out the best in your system .

even music That I may not be favorites, just to hear the instruments and soundstage

width and depth razor sharp  imaging these donot do like the platinum or AQ Diamond but in a live performance you don’t either balance is the key ,check out a few reviews , Lampizator North America is the distributor.

bsme85.

I realized that after a while. Funny that the 2.0 is part of the description when their other cables are not listed that way. Thanks though for the consideration.

This cable is good and detailed but no mention of its very neutral sound,

the AQ Diamond in some systems is better if you wan5 it a bit smoother .

the final touch audio Callisto is the best 7nder  $1200 imo

hav8ng natural high purity Copper but also natural Silver and Gold ,to give it very good detail as well as naturalness the metal is hammered  and it works for around $950 or less very good , the $2k Shunyata  the best , their Alpha is very good but a $300 juump in price which is a lot to $1500

Just received the second cable. I now have one going to my hard drive and another to my ADD-POWR I/O/ unit.

Awesome usb cable. I never really thought a usb cable could make much difference, but this one does!

Fresh from the box everything is more clean compare to stock cable, but differences are not huge. Need to put some hours and compare again.
Received my 0.6m about 2 weeks ago. Have had over 200 hrs and it’s an outstanding cable, well worth the 5 or so month waiting period. I demoed other usb cables (AQ, Curious, Nordost, Oyaide and a $10 generic usb) during that time and the only other cable that was as good in my system was the Nordost Heimdall 2, which had exceptional detail and pace. Maybe so good that I might try a head to head again.

Anybody else with an opinion on the Nordost vs the WW8.

I've had mine since it was introduced and I've never felt the need to change. Mine runs from my Bryston renderer to an Uptone Audio ISO Regen and then to an Ayre QB9 Twenty. As for the length, balanced cables shouldn't be needed unless the length reaches about eight feet, so a 1.0 meter cable isn't going to matter.
I have the 0.6M and 1.0M in my home and can't hear a difference. I agree, outstanding product, well worth the wait.
Just got mine, fresh out of the box good detail without being overly forward. Really good imaging. Need to put some hours on the cable. What I was surprised about was how much smaller the wire is. I'd say 1/2 the thickness of series 6 and 7 which I've owned.
Should have mine tomorrow, looking forward to trying it out. I have not seen any reviews yet.
